Rod Suggestions

Featured Replies

After snapping yet another rod this weekend on a hook-set, I'm looking for something to replace my Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0. I want something for plastics, just not too sure what I want yet. Looking mainly at St Croix, Dobyns, Duckett, or Loomis. However I'm not trying to spend over $225. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Dobyns savvy or Powell Max 3D

St Croix Premier, 5 years warranty about $90.00 tom $110.00 or Avid,, Lifetime warranty and about $180.00 to $200.00, both Made In America!! Backed by the best CS in the Industry!! :Victory:

An Avid or Avid X would be a great rod for soft plastics.

An ugly stick if you keep snapping rods on hooksets!! LOL.... I kid... i kid.... If your budget is $225 you can't go wrong with a Dobyn's or St. Croix. An Avid, or a Champion if you call the right people will be a great rod. A former sponsor from here may be able to hook you up with a Dobyn's.

little more info needed here before i'd recommend buying a $200 rod. why are your rods breaking?

even cheap rods shouldn't break on the hook set so i'd learn to correct ur hook set with 'cheap' rods before spending more money.  expensive rods are easy to break too

I really know of no rods that match the Duckett White Ice at their price range. My vote would be for one of those. Simply Fantastic rod's.

St Croix Avid in that price range would be an excellent choice.

x2 on this. Hate to be the one to recommend a 200.00 rod and it snaps again. Next thing you know, you will be thinking a 200.00 rod is a cheap rod. So what was the scenario when you snapped your current rod? Do you think it may have been a mfg defect? If your dead set on getting a new rod, then I would suggest St. Croix Avid, Kistler KLX, maybe take a look at ALX rods also.

It's the only the 2nd rod I've ever snapped, the first was a cheapo Cabelas rod. This one broke for whatever reason. Probably just a faulty rod, I've had good luck with all of my Abu rods so far but for whatever reason this one broke right at the tip.

Avid or Champion get my vote. I own multiple of both, and for good reason.

You might want to go to the Denali website and check out their line of rods.  I own several and have been very pleased with them.
