So the past few times ive been to my favorite spot, ive not had good success. Ive been skunked about 3 times by all species of fish. The only time i didnt get skunked was when a 1/4 lb bass hit my kvd 1.5. I am most definetly sure the bass are in prespawn, as i can see them breaking water on the edge of the cove, right where it drops off. Oddly enough, the small bass i caught was when i tossed the crank into the cove. I cant seem to get bit on anything i use. Ive tried spinnerbaits, crankbaits, swimbaits, jigs w/craw trailer even tried nightcrawlers. Ive tried a jerkbait but im not sure how to really use it, i cant seem to find anywhere how to actually work it, only where to throw it. Should I try topwater lures if i go back and they are still breaking the surface? please help me, I need to catch a BASS!!!!!

throw a wacky rig zman zinker. Also try a shaky head. Should get bit on either.

It's been tough here as well.  I am not the only one struggling and you most likely aren't either.  If your night crawler didnt get bit, that is slow..   If they dont want your reaction baits, go with finesse.  It should get better as it warms up.

Weightless soft plasics are about all I've been throwing lately, with some topwater mixed in.

Just dont give up . Theres something that will work. Have you tried a floating minnow? Just cast it out and let it sit motionless until the ripples disappear , then barely nudge it . That can be a good spring time technique .

It's been slow around here as well. Hopefully with the warmer weather, the action will pick up.

Weightless soft plastics work great in those situations,Try a fluke T-rigged or a wacky senko.

I'm in your boat.... so to speak.  I've been to three different ponds at least once this season and have two pickerel, a good sized crappie, a blue gill, and one feisty little yellow perch.  I've thrown the kitchen sink in the water and am still waiting for bass #1.....  I saw two good sized bass in the shallows of a small reservoir I frequent, but they just laughed at me and swam slowly away....

I know it'll get better, but I get frustrated when I read other members 'killing it' and I can't seem to catch much of anything.....

Other members local near me gave up some kind words and advice that I'll pass along to you: don't forget fishing is fun; when your luck is down, back up and go back to basics you know work; if one area isn't working, move.

Best of luck....  try to keep a positive attitude.

Glad to see I'm not the only one that keeps getting skunked! I've been out 8 times and didn't catch anything 6 of those trips. I was starting to think I was the only one on these forums not hooking up!

I would search up how to use a jerkbait on youtube or something.  Also I would definitely try some drop shot
