What's your favorite braid and why? I think my next purchase will be a high visibility line. I fish mostly soft plastics. I guess 40 lb. is strong enough. I let the Bass Pro guy talk me into 65 lb. braid awhile back. I don't remember what he said, lol, but I bought it. Maybe I'm wrong, it just looks like fish could see the line. But the water I fish is certainly not clear, it's stained. I am also going to try a leader.

I like the round braids like smackdown and fx2. Casts better. Seems to have better abrasion resistance. Thinner diameter.

They are a little pricy, but a spool lasts a long time.

If you are going to tie a leader, I would recommend the Alberto knot. Learn to tie it right. When you break off and at the leader instead of the bait, you are not tying it right.

All my bait casters are spooled with PowerPro #40, moss green.

I use original Power Pro and have for years, from 20# to 65#.

That is all my brother-in-law uses and it has never let him down either.  My first braid was Sufix Performance.  I decided to spool another reel with 40# braid while down there.  Picked up Original PP at Walmart.  It may not let you down, but I felt it was a lot noisier than the Performance.  Personally I think 40# is plenty strong enough.  You aren't going to break it using bare hands.  If I were going to stronger line, I would go with Daiwa Samurai.  I originally picked up some 55# for my flipping and pitching rod.  It won't break at 80# (meaning it isn't that strong), but for that reason has a smaller diameter.  I picked up a used reel that came with 65# braid.  Maybe it was because it was quite old line, but it floated through the air like a parachute.    Definitely hurt casting distance.

 

My braid experience is rather limited.  Besides the previously mentioned braids, I have 30# Fireline, 10# 832, 20# Tuf-line Ultracast and I forget the specifics of the Spiderwire line.  Only problem with any of them I recall is the Filreline color flaked off bad when I spooled it.  Thumb and finger were dark green afterwards.  I think you will have a hard time finding a bad braid.

All I use is Power pro #40 and #50. Zero issues.

I have been using Sufix 832 for a while now, and have been impressed, but I started using Original Power Pro last year, and so far I like it better. On my ultralights I use Berkley Fireline Crystal, and although it isn't very abrasion resistant, I like the small diameters it comes in.

I was not aware of Power Pro's Super Slick. Sounds good, I wonder why anyone would use the original PP.

 

I like to see my line... hi vis is good. Any disadvantages?

I'll tell ya'... been running braid for a couple years now and although I've switched to Sufix 832, I believe I like Spiderwire Stealth in moss green best.

I like 20# moss green spiderwire stealth for muscling them in or camo spiderwire if I want to be fancy

Honestly I just use whatever brand but I did just respool all my reels with Power Pro Maxcuatro Spectra. We will see how that goes. It's supr thin.

I'm another Power Pro fan. I usually use 50 and 65 in moss green. I like S8S too, it's only downside is that it frays/abrades much easier than regular PP.

I use both Sufix 832 & Power Pro.

Daiwa Samurai braid is my favorite followed by Power Pro Slick 8

I've used Power Pro and Sufix 832 and like them both.  Currently I have a BC reel with 30# 832 in Ghost color (white) and another with 30# 832 in Neon Lime color.  IMO Sufix 832 is a little softer out of the box and requires a shorter break-in period than Power Pro.
