I need to replace the fire extinguisher on my 93 javelin bass boat. It was mounted under the console on the carpet laying flat, where to you like to mount yours or store it?

I have a small one that tucks in behind the middle seat. That may not be possible to do depending on the boat. I keep a larger one up front. I figure that way if I have a raging fire on the outboard I'm as far away as possible getting an extinguisher.

And by up front I mean in a compartment. It takes up some valuable real estate but it's a pretty important piece of equipment so I deal with it.

Mine is under the console as well. Out of the way but reachable.....

In floor right in front of platform the drivers seat is on. Easy to reach anytime but out of way as well.

Mine is bolted to the aluminum channel that stiffens the hatch on the starboard rod locker. 

 

Open the hatch, and there it is.  It was originally secured to the rear wall of the rod locker, and awkward to access. 

I like the rod locker idea.

Keep mine bolted in starboard rear storage compartment.

But I do like Tom's idea of the rod locker on the reinforcement bar.

While we're at it.  When you take someone with you, make sure they know where all the safety and emergency equipment is.  First Aid kit, fire extinguishers, paddle, flares, life preservers, throwable float whether a ring or a cushion, sounding device, (horn, whistle), anchor, etc.

 

You never know when your well being may be in someone else's hands.

Make sure you get an ABC . BC wont extinguish most fires .I would avoid cheap , plastic handled  disposable extinguisher. Lowes has a good extinguisher at a great price .

If there is a raging fire in my outboard I will be swimming towards shore. A small fire, I'll try to put it out

Exactly. So as I'm exiting I have that one last chance to make a stand should I decide to. If not I'm as far from the 50 gallons of gas as possible when I start swimming.
