I'll be in northern California next week visiting my inlaws. They live about 20 minutes from clear lake. I'll probably break down and hire a guide. I've already contacted one. But the anticipation is killing me. I understand that fishing isnt catching. But I can't help but have some expectations.

It's always a good idea to hire a guide on a lake you've never been too if you can afford it.

If I went on a legendary lake like that; I would definitely hire a guide. You'll get the most out of your experience. 

I just did the Magic 8 Ball method on my daughter's toy and it said "Yes, Definitely"

clearlake water temps are threw the roof! Im talking close to 90 in a few spots. Most of the lake is in the middle of a massive algae bloom. The catfishing is outstanding with the average fish over 10 lbs. Call the tackle shops up here before you spend your money.

I see I'll surely do that. That's kind of a bummer.

Find and hire a good guide and catch some fish. You won't regret it.

The WON Open at Clear Lake a few weeks ago had very high release mortality rates, 75 big bass died in the release boat, another 50+ found floating!

Just a reminder to practice good livewell management; keep the livewell water at 70-75 degrees and add a cup of 3% over the counter hydrogen peroxide to 15 gallons of livewell water.

pretty poor. I talked with a guide and a tackle shop for some tips and tthey said the bass fishing had been slow. So we got some cutbait and I had one of the best catfishing days of my life!!!!

day 1 at clear lake caught some top water fish and bed fish on drop shot. Today took sight fishing to a whole nother level. Loved it. Much thanks to Mr. ROSS ENGLAND for providing a very professional guided trip. My first time hiring a guide was money well spent. I would recommend him to anyone

I haven't fished that place in years.  My last two trips we caught 10 lb fish.  Each. 

 

The algae blooms there are insane.  It's like you're in a giant bowl of pea soup.
