OK, new poll.

What time do you do best in the Summer?

For me, I like the night and early morning.  It's the coolest part of the day and It seems like the bugs aren't as bad as they are at sunset. Also, you often have the water all to yourself.

And midday is rough around here, it's close to 100 today!

I broke it into 4 hour slots, I know there may be some overlap around the transitional periods, especially the early morning one, but this seemed like a logical way to divide it up.

How about you guys??

Early to Mid-Morning.

Coolest part of the day when winds normally blow the least and all the skiers are still in bed!

Didn't see the Monday - Friday 8AM - 5PM option.....

i would consider that the best time to fish because i never get that chance it seems like....

Ain't that the truth?  Pickwick is a total zoo in the Summer, but the fish don't seem to mind it.

Best time is when no one is one the lake. Im blessed to have my days off during the week to fish

Early to mid morning before the sun comes over the tops of the trees.

I love the morning and evening bite obviously, but I feel like midday is overlooked. On a hot, sunny day, I know bass will be holding under the most shaded parts of docks.

I chose midnite to 2a but I prefer to be on the water just before dark & fish till I want..

We have some lakes here that have a 7pm until 11am no wake rule that gives fishermen a chance to enjoy those lakes without putting up with all of the water fleas.

The only problem is that we don't have enough of them!

The hour before sunrise and after sunset are best for me. Seems to be a bigger difference for SMB. If I had to choose it'd be sunset.

The first 5 hours of light. I start in the spots that are going to see the sun first and end up in the spots that see the sun last. Then I hope heave black clouds roll in, if not I am done after 6 hours of hard fishing.

+1

4-5 a.m. to 8-9 a.m in brush piles 15-18' deep points.

5:30AM-9:30AM Monday thru Friday. Absolutely nobody around to interfere with my catching.

My favorite is the morning. I do believe just my opinion that certain lakes are better evening lakes than mornings.

5 pm till midnight is my typical summer outing. The first couple hours are just to get settled, find some good areas, and wait for the pleasure boaters to call it a night. It's tough for me to get up early enough for the morning bite because my "home" lakes are all about an hour away. (not a fan of getting up at 3 AM)

7pm-7am.... In the dead of Summer I rarely get on the water before 8:00 pm.

To me, in the Summer, the absolute best time to be on the water, from a tranquility standpoint, Is from 1:00 am until 4:00 am. There are a few crappie fisherman still out and the majority(If not all) the tournament boats are off the water and It seems you have the entire lake to yourself.

Amen! It is rare that I don't fish more than 4 hours on any trip. If I had to choose a 4 hour slot it would ~8p to midnight, although the cool and quiet of the wee hours are hard beat.

I like the evening because I have to work mornings. And if I go fishing early, I get up so early to beat sunrise that I'm dog-tired all day. But I'm awake every evening the last 2 hours before dark.

The drawback is that dark descends and there's no more light to fish by. If you go early you can fish longer. On an ideal day, I'd go early and late.

That's funny right there ;)

Once the sun goes up and heat rises, at around 10am, the bite just shuts off for me.  I fish from the shoreline and I'm assuming all the fish are schooling up in deeper water and I have horrible luck finding them, so I just pack up and leave.

I said "early evening 6pm -10pm" only because it covers the times I fish in the evening. My opinion of the best time to fish is an hour before sunrise, around 5:30 to about 9 am, but that was not a selection.
