Best Jig Fishing Rod

Featured Replies

Hey I recently purchased a abu Garcia vendetta 7 0 MH fast action rod for jigging 3/8 jigs. Is this a good choice? I live in the midwest so it s not like I m pitching Florida s heavy cover. My other choice is a vendetta 7 6" heavy rod. Which is better for jig fishing? Thanks a bunch!

It depends on what you're jigging and where you're jigging it as well as personal preference. I don't care for a broomstick even for punching. On the other hand, over loading a rod can make it feel mushy and less sensitive. If you're fishing really heavy cover you need to be prepared to get them out once hooked. ABU rods lean toward the higher end of lure weight ratings compared to some other similarly labeled rods. The MH should be fine for a 3/8 jig.

Contrary to popular belief ~

It is completely possible to cast to, detect a strike, play & land bass with a rod that may not necessarily be "The Best".

I think I'm working with sticks in the "not Too Bad category" and seem to do OK.

Just get one you like, you'll be good.

The title is misleading and usually avoid committing on "best" anything posts, it becomes a my Chevy is better than your Ford thread.

The rod you already purchased is OK at it's price point of $70 and the 7' is a better choice than the 7'6" for your type of fishing.
