buzz it = rig it weedless and move it fast enough to keep it on top with any legs/arms/tails/appendages wiggling. You can buzz just about any plastic bait as a topwater. Some, like the Stanley Ribbit, the Rage Toad and Rage shad are made specifically for this.

I have been doing this a lot, Im looking for new ways to fish topwater. I'm new at using lures and all those different baits

A deadly lure down in southern marshes is a Zoom Ultravibe Speed Craw buzzed on top!

Aint a lot of commotion there but it produces huge bass!

This and oh so much this. Weightless speed craw is deadly in these areas. On that note catt I watched someone at saltwater barrier pull out a few reds and bass on this rig sunday

These work pretty well! Academy H2O express pistol minnow.

Buzzbaits are my absolute favorite. They've got the props located where spinner blades go on spinnerbaits. They're easy because you don't really have to do anything other than cast and reel. No need to alter speeds, add action, etc. Just a simple cast and retrieve and watch a bass destroy it! So fun!

Unless I missed it, I didn't see an Original Floating Rapala mentioned. This is the one that got me hooked on topwater and when I learned about what a bait sitting motionless can do to a bass' state of mind. 

If grass is breaking the surface I reach for the Rage Toad or Pad Daddy, if grass is 1 inch below the surface I reach for a buzz bait (to high and the prop tangles up with grass), if grass is at least 3 inches below the surface I reach for the Jitter bug (treble hooks will catch grass if it's to high). All three types have there place so you NEED at least three types for any given situation.

Lots of companies make buzzbaits, Booyah Strike King an Wareagle to name a few. Don't worry about all the clacker and double-propped ones. Just go with your regular single-prop for now. Heddon has the torpedo, a solid propbait, and they have a couple variations of the spook.

The heddon torpedo is a classic but it sucks really. The blades spin like crap and sometimes not at all if you just try reeling. Now if the blade was like a duo spin bait 90 that sound for days and with the slightest breeze it would probably be way better.

actually, that's exactly why I prefer the Tiny torpedo over the larger size: the blades seem to spin more reliably, and the bass don't seem to care that it's a bit shorter.

My favorite top water bait is the river2sea whopper plopper. I love it.

What color works the best for you?

Chug bug ,Pop r and Rapala skitter pop.The Rapala floating minnow and the old Devils hoarse still draws some strikes.
