OKay guys I am wanting a new frog rod! I can't order one because of my mailbox situation, so I need one I can pick up in-store. I have been looking at a few different rods at Cabela's including their store brand Tournament ZX 7'3" Frog, the Abu Vendetta 7'6" Heavy Fast, the Fenwick HMX 7'6" Heavy Fast, and the Falcon BuCoo 7' Heavy Fast. Which of these is better and what other suggestions do you have for me? They need to be able to handle the smaller frogs like the Spro Bronzeye Jr. and Booyah Baby Pad Crasher as well as also needing to be able to handle the Ribbett style soft body frogs as far as castability goes. Thank you!

you might want to look into a MH rod instead but make sure it has a good backbone .

Only reason I am looking for a heavy is because one, there is a bunch of absolute HAWGS where I am gonna be fishing at, and two, those HAWGS are hiding in some pretty heavy matted salad.

I've been using my Lews Magnum One rod. I had some accuracy problems that are now solved. I started using BP and Stanley Toads with the Stanley Double Hook. The added weight made a huge difference.

The bonus is my hook set ratio went way up. That double hook is a total game changer.

I'm not a hollow body frog fan yet. I'm totally into the toads. I like the Gambler Cane Toad too. The 49er color is awesome in any weather or water conditions.

i am not a fan of hollow body frogs at all , toads (buzz frogs ) are all i fish , i only use single hooks , Owner beast hooks ( un-weighted ) , i love and religiously fish Canyon Plastics 4.5'' frogs , they have a little heft to them so they cast far , wish they made a bigger size Rage toad or a bigger Zoom Horny Toad ...

I use a Ethos Micro from Academy in a 7' 3" H/F that will fish any of those frogs or toads you listed and has the backbone to a big fish and a bunch of slop in. Find them when they're on sale and you can get one for around $60 but even at full price they're only $80. 

I can tell you for a fact.....IMHO... That the Abu and Fenwick you mentioned are poor frog rods. I have had and used both. The Vendetta has ZERO tip and is like fishing with a pool cue, and the HMX is poorly balanced,and heavy..not desirable qualities in a frog rod. I have moved to custom built rods for bottom contact stuff but will keep my trusty 7' MH lightning rod shock for frogging. It's the best rod I have ever had for frogging, and that includes $250+ rods that I have had. It has enough tip to skip frogs under overhead cover, and enough back bone to winch fish from thick mats. It's light, balances well with the reels I own, and....the best part... Is $40 at Walmart. A frog rod is not something you need to spend big $$$ on, unless you want to.

I see you mentioned the Falcon Bucoo 7'H, if you can find the 7'3"H that rod is an excellent frog rod that will handle all the baits you mentioned and the Academy Ethos that Bluebasser mentioned would also be a great rod.  

I have the zx frog Rod. 7'3". Rod is perfect for frogs and moss. I use it for frogs, rats, mice, buzzbaits, and small swim baits. The grips are the nicest grips I've ever felt and it balances well w a reel. And I'm pretty sure it's on sale for 80. Highly recommend it

I use a Kistler Carbon Steel "All Day Power Tool" 7'3"HF.  It was inexpensive and gets the job done!

I actually went to Cabela's yesterday and picked up a St. Croix Mojo Bass 7' Medium Heavy-Fast for $83 on sale. That'll be my frog rod for now since it I needed a Texas Rig/Jig rod as well. And I have a Daiwa Tatula Tactical 8.1:1 in the mail to put on it with 65# Power Pro
