Hello From Va.

Featured Replies

New bass fisherman, going on three weeks now. Have been long time trout fisherman but recently tried to catch some large mouth bass in local ponds on fly rod, landed a couple but mostly broke line and lost flies.

Decided if I wanted bass it would be best to get a bass rod since all our setups were small ultralight trout rigs, OMG.....what a experience this has been! I thought I could just go in and get a spinning reel and ugly stick and I'd be off....not quite, walked out with St. Croix 6'6" med heavy fast action with Basspro bait casting reel they had on sale, very nice set up.  It took awhile to get control of bait casting reel but now I like it, almost threw it into pond a few times:)

Also recently bought G. Loomis E6x, 7'1" crank bait rod with Shimano Curato 200px reel.

Look forward to being part of community,

Chuck

Welcome aboard - just gave you another welcome

in your other post... Nice to have you aboard.

Virginia has some amazing bass fisheries. Read up

and practice. This is a great place to learn. I know

it has helped me a ton.

Chuck, we have lots of wonderful people from Virginia on the Forum so please add your geographical location to your avatar.

This will help us give you information.

With fall approaching think of faster moving baits, like lipless crankbaits, spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits and buzzbaits.

Great having you with us.

Just ask your questions and we will do our best to give you our input.
