I just spooled my Ugly Stik with braid and I have been having trouble tying my knot on the braid. I usually use an improved clinch knot for monofilament but it is much harder to tie on braid. Any suggestions?

Uni Knot is pretty good

I use the classic fisherman's knot with just about everything.  With braid you have to thread it through the eye-let twice to keep it from slipping.  It's the strongest knot I've found I have never had a fish (fresh or saltwater) break that knot when it was properly tied. 

I use the uni knot with a double loop.

Regardless of the knot I find that wetting the line facilitates tying

I always tied braid with a Palomar until I started using power pro, then switched to the improved clinch and haven't had any issues with it. But if you are having problems tying it, switch to the Palomar. It's super easy to tie and pretty much the strongest knot out there.

Trilenw know ties well with braid for me. Super fast too.

Uni and Palomar work for me.. I tie an FG for leaders, in a pinch I'll tie a blood knot.

I use the San Diego Jam with great success, unless I'm frogging, I like the Palomar since it doesn't seem to catch "pond snot" quite as bad

Uni works good for me with #30 power pro. I just retie after I feel like the knot or line could have been damaged. (Snagged lure, pike, etc)

I use the Improved clinch, but then I also add a half hitch at the end.  The San Diego knot works well too which I tend to use more.  I'm not a fan of the palomar, never have so my confidence in that knot is lacking and I can't tie it as quickly as the other two which I could do in my sleep.  Also wetting the braid and pulling it tight slowly until its snug and then pull tight.  And for connections, always the Albright.

I just switch from the Palomar to the uni and I like it a lot. Both knots are good for braid. Everybody using the improved clinch, isn't the standard stronger? I've seen so many tests where the "improved" doesn't even come close to the standard version.

depends on the brand of braid you use , i used to use regular power pro but now use Sufix 832 and with both i use the improved clinch knot with no problem at all , i use the improved clinch knot for everything except when i tie on a hook for dropshotting , i use the palomar for that and i use a uni-to-uni knot or an albright knot for joining two lines ...

Why the switch to 832? I've used both lines. Overall I prefer the power pro.

it's the opposite with me !! i use 30 lb. 832 in neon lime and i think it is a lot smoother through the guides , plus i love the color of the neon lime . Power Pro and Sufix performance braid are the roughfest lines i've used .
