Greetings From Cali

Featured Replies

Hey everyone,

I'm checking in from the Bay Area, California. I used to fish a lot when I was a kid and lost touch with it when i went to college. I am just getting back into fishing now (bass primarily, but sometimes trout too). I have watched almost all of Glenn's videos on YouTube, and that is what got me very interested in bass. His videos are very informative and to the point. I learned most of my techniques from watching his videos over and over.

I haven't caught any big bass yet, but I have landed a fair share of 1-2lb fish. My favorite rig currently is the drop shot. I fish it with a Medium-Light / Fast action spinning rod (Fenwick HMG), Shimano Sahara spinning reel, 15 lb braid backing / 8 lb monofilament leader using an FG knot, and tungsten drop shot weights. My soft plastics of choice for this rig are the 4.5" Roboworm (morning dawn, aaron's magic, and prism shad), and BioSpawn Plasma Tail worms (green pumpkin and junebug). I rig them up on a 1/0 drop shot or octopus hook with a 12"-24" leader. Currently I only fish from the shore.

The lakes I frequent are (in no particular order): Almaden Lake Park, Sandy Wool, Shadow Cliffs, and Steven's Creek Reservoir. I also fish around Santa Rosa area sometimes because my brother in law lives up there. Here is a shot from Spring Lake in Santa Rosa of my most recent catch:

I hope to expand my knowledge here and share my experiences with you guys!
