E6X Reviews

I bought it since my first impression holding them in the store was because hands-down the Ci4+ reel seat was by far more comfortable. I'm not really hung up on looks, but I would say both rods look nice in their own ways.

While Shimano owns both, the G Loomis warranty is obviously better as it's lifetime, so take that as you'd like. The Zodias is my first 1-year Warranty rod from Shimano, all my others were the older gen with lifetime.

I'm all for jobs and profits being in the states, I'm not getting into a regional production debate, but you almost can't purchase everything in the US, this time it included my rods, reels, lures, line, etc....I can't find many that are completely produced end-to-end in the CONUS.

They certainly have a regional look - again, both look sharp in their own ways.

Point being.....hold the rods in your hands, take your reel with you if you want...try them out in the store if possible....buy the one you feel best about

That said....in the future will be a custom that Batson would make for me. I'm interested in the MicroWave guides for my spinning rig. That's a way off though. :)

I do look at the American made factor being a union member and local vice president I see the drastic decline of American industry first hand. I do buy American when applicable. I also know what feels better to me when it comes to rods and the zodias feels better hands down. This is just my opinion. I like aspects of both rods for different applications,it's the main reason I haven't purchased either yet. I like the jdm look but it doesn't dictate every rod purchase I make. I am glad you brought these points up though. It's food for thought. I think the e6x rod is g-loomises attempt to appeal to the everyday angler. Most average anglers will not pay 300 to $500 for a rod in my area. I myself included. I limit myself to around a $200 rod budget so an nrx is not in my future. They have to compete globally hence the lower price option. Well enough of the serious stuff. Crank bait rod e6x probably. Bottom contact goes to the zodias.

I've considered buying one to pair with my Sustain. I'd like to see what people say.

Following this thread....

Youd be missing out if you didnt get one. I got two for 40% off (only reason i got them). Anyways i got a 7' mh crankbait rod and a 7'5" heavy flipping rod. The crankbait one is great for ripping rattletraps in grass and can even handle those big deep divers. Absolutely a great but and i will be slowly but surely switching my rods to g-loomis.

I got to borrow my friends zodias spinning rod paired with a stradic CI4+ And with a Texas rigged bait I could literally feel every pebble and every piece of structure. Most sensitive rod I've ever held. Looks sweet too haha

Thank you for the love!! :) Im sure you will own a custom RainShadow sometime in your life!

I understand the costs that are involved, but there is a definite split between an american made rod vs JDM looking rod. Just trying to get feedback from the users on here.

Then why not go the custom route? Just putting it out there.. Just trying to get feedback..

Seems like the rods are Looks vs performance

Do you know which model he had paired with the CI4+? M or MH?

A guy at work was telling me I needed to check them out so I did.... I was very unimpressed.  The balance alone was enough to ignore them as an offering.  I have a half dozen same price or cheaper rods that balance better and are lighter.

No thank you.

Just curious was it casting or spinning rod?

Wow! So I am on the opposite side of things. I took my reel in with me to the tackle shop and put it on the e6x and zodias. I walked out with the e6x with little hesitation.

I'm in no way saying that the zodias is a bad rod and that you should not buy it, but I was specifically looking for a dropshot rod to use on Lake Erie and the e6x had the exact action I needed - 6'10" mag medium.

The cork grip on the e6x I have was much better than the plasticity feel on the zodias in my hands, and with the amount of times I find myself in the rain I also felt that grip would be slightly better. Something about plastic and fish slime that made me feel like the odds of it slipping out of my hands and resting on the bottom of the lake were higher.

Now cosmetically the zodias would have been a no brainer since the color scheme matches the colors of the Daiwa Fuego spinning reel I have, but this is a case were I had a very specific need and decided to let function win out over fashion.

So far I've been as happy as can be with my selection.

Good luck and tight lines!

I really do love the rod.  I've caught a few 3 and 4 pound bronzebacks, and was able to control them very well.  I am looking forward to seeing how it will handle a 5+ pounder when I can locate one.  LOL!

Bringing this back for an update. The version 2 E6x rods are fantastic. Newer smaller lighter guides, better balanced, and lighter overall.

the MBR in the series are killer.

My first step into paying for a bit of a higher end rod was an e6x walleye version. 6’6” medium fast. That rod is everything I could ask for. It’s lightweight, it balances literally perfect with ci4+ stradic, been very strong and durable yet surprising sensitive. I preferred it over my avid x which I picked up shortly after. I’ve fished the e6x 845c cbr as well and was very impressed for the money its a solid cranking stick.

Shortly after i worked my way up, imx Pro’s, glx’s and nrx’s. I just love a loomis rod!

that being said after spending seasons with the avid x, and e6x side by side and having never fished the zodias, I believe the zodias might be the better. I prefer my expride over my imx pro’s and your saving a couple bucks. I think the zodias and e6x are probably the same thing.

I have the gen 1 E6X, an 853C. I like the action of the rod, but the balance and overall weight isn't great. It is not as sensitive as other rods in that price range either. Just kind of feels dead in my hands. I think the best (just my opinion) rods in that price range are the new Megabass Levantes.
