What is the reason some don't like it? Is there a problem with it?

I think some people just don't find split seats comfortable, whether it's the SK2 or the Pac Bay Minima.  I'm not a big fan of them on real skinny blanks.

Its trigger digs in.

It creates the most awkward palming of a reel.

it's the most uncomfortable piece of garbage ever concocted.

Lol, do you like any split seats or just not the SK2?

Are there any reels other than the St Croix legend tournament using the SK2?

At quick glance it looks like some of the Fenwick rods, (HMG and Aetos) and the Powell Max 3D rods use them.

i myself love the SK2 reel seats . i palm my reel so instead of laying my little finger against the trigger , i wrap my little finger around it making it comfortable and my grip on the reel more secure .

depends on how you palm your reel. it dug into my ring finger really bad.

I'm a big fan of the ECS. and I can't stand the ACS. My Phenix has the SK2 on it. I actually don't mind it at all. I've sold rods because of the reel seat before, but I'm ok with this one. It gets a lot of use too because it's my ml rod.

I like the SK2, I guess you need manlier hands to like it.

This.....and I love the Minima reel seat.

Rubs on the ring, on the ringer finger. I personally don't mind it since I'm constantly moving my hand/finger location, call it adhd of the hands

Have to add the legend xtreme also has the same seat

Hootie, the back side is very small which makes the grip

a narrow diameter.

It's also an odd shape with a very short and stout trigger.

You can't get a good grip for casting and it's impossible (for me)

to get a hold of the rod that's comfortable.

That seat causes serious fatigue and a numbing pian in your hand

and fingers after a short time. You are basically relying on

holding onto your reel for dear life.. Then you start to squeeze it to keep hold.

It gets worse and worse.. After that all that the uneven odd

shape of the front and especially the rear of the seat starts to bite

into every part of your grip.. One word describes it IMO; uncomfortable

I predict it will be discontinued within a year.

Unfortunately Powell took a shot with it on the new

3D rods.

if they were gonna get discontinued , i'd buy 10 SK2's with the graphite hood in size 17 & buy 5 SKSS spinning seats A.S.A.P !!!!   :eyebrows:

As you know I'm big on the cut away ACS and I don't mind the ECS. I do like a full cork grip on my heavy rods and split grips on the lighter.

That's pretty close, the one I like has a hollowed trigger.

I really like the SK2 and the ACS, surprisingly the ECS is the sore spot for me, I know, I'm in the minority. I have large hands and the ECS has a long, wide trigger, it is fine if I'm fishing jigs and worms but chucking blades or cranks all day would leave my hand swollen and sore between my middle and ring fingers and that leads me to this. I palm my reel with the little finger behind the trigger and when I cast I have my index finger and middle finger in front of the trigger and my ring and little finger behind the trigger, so when I make the trigger rotates between my ring and middle fingers and if the trigger is wide it constantly rubs in that area until my hand hurts. The ACS sort of locks my fingers in one spot so that the trigger doesn't rotate and the same thing for reel seats that have a deep curve but the old ECS was a killer and the new skeleton reel seats have been a God send to me.
