Fishing 20'/25'/ 30' Deep With Crankbaits.

I been wondering if a weighted Carolina rig can be used with a shallower 15' running CRANKBAIT to fish it deeper?

I've done it with some success. I just use a shallow running square bill.

Walleye guys do it all the time with stick baits.

I was fishing with my son on a rented boat at a new lake.

I was in 30 feet of water with my shore baits. I was lost.

Ive had success using Bomber Long A Minnows on Carolina rigs .

You might want to look into longlining, but I've heard it's a slooow process.

I just use 10xds

Zman & strk kng elaztech swim baits are great on Crig. I am sure flukes would also

Booyah Boo rigs!

Just like walleye guys do. Just throw the big weight on there and put a shallow diver behind it.

Deep fast current with a long line, what planet are fishing?

If you want to get a crankbait deep, troll it with a 3 way swivel rig or a keel weight. All long lining is cheating the no trolling tournament rule.

Pardon my ignorance, the only thing I know about it is the Bassmaster tournament ( believe it was 2012) that Britt Meyers almost won by longlining. The winner was doing it as well. I don't think that Bill is fishing tournaments, he didn't state it was fast current either.

Not with a C rig though. You use a dipsy diver and can make a bait run at any depth provided you have enough line.

They use C rigs or bottom bouncers here to get them deep.

The No Trolling rule refers specifically to the main motor. Trolling motor can be used as much as you like. And that rule only applies to Tournaments anyhow.

If you just want to show your kids a good time; trolling some deep divers with the big motor can be a great way to do that. Cast em out behind the boat. Secure the rods in a sturdy rod holder and idle around potential hot spots. Sit back and talk with the youngsters on a deeper level than than you can when they are at home zoned out in their private little world. Watch as the glint and glee light up in their eyes as the drag starts to scream! That's when you know your kids are hooked on fishing.  We used to catch Bass, Amber Jack, and Snook this way all the time on the Caloosahatchee in 20 plus foot of water when I was a kid. That made for some of my fondest memories.

The technique of long lining, as I've seen it done is making a long cast, and moving away from the bait while feeding it line. Then using the reel to retrieve and impart action with the rod as you see fit. This technique requires that you know where the structure and cover you want to fish are. You also need to ensure your bait comes across them at depth.

Long lining may help you get a 25' bait down to 30 - 35. But it isn't going to get your 5'-12' bank beater down there. Long Lining also isn't as enjoyable for the kids, and requires a greater level of concentration and skill.

Cranking with a Swivel and weight works well too, but your arms will be worn out after a day of that!
