Huge Smallmouth - Not Caught By Me.

Only details I have - came off a share from FB.

Angler was Greg Gasiciel and the fish was taken (and weighed in) during a tournament this weekend somewhere here in Michigan.

The Beast weighed - wait for it . . . . . . . . . .9.32 lbs ! ! ! !

We could be looking at the New State Record.

Congrats to Mr. Gasiciel.

Unreal.

I saw that as well. Pretty wild, I'm no expert but that fish looks like it's been around the block a few times.

I know where I'm fishing next spring...

She looks like an old timer for sure.  Congrats to the fisherman on a record catch!

Tight lines,

Bob

Huge! Did they release her?

That is a monster smallmouth for sure, but checking with the IGFA online the 11lb. 15 oz. smallmouth caught by David Hayes from Dale Hollow in TN in 1955 still stands.

Do you know the length?  Must be 20 years old that far North ~

Absolutely incredible fish. I'm jealous (but not as much as the guy in the background.)

I looked it up. Article said the length was 24". I think A-Jay meant to write "state record."

.

Sure looks like 23" to me.

Wow - Congrats to Mr. Gasiciel on a great catch.

I'd like to know if she was released as well. Be a shame if she wasn't. An amazing trophy to be coveted, hopefully given the opportunity to be caught again.

Fish was caught on Hubbard Lake near Alpena, MI.  The weight of 9.32lbs came from the TD's scales and the fish was being taken to a set a state certified scales for an official weight.  I saw a fairly poor picture of the fish on a tape and it looked close to 24" as the news stated.

Hubbard Lake was one of the three lakes that Major League Fishing visited a few year ago.

That's not a pie plate....That's a COOKIE SHEET!

What's really cool is catching a new state record while fishing in a tournament.

That is a much better picture than the stupid garage pic. When some one catches the fish of a lifetime remember the background in the picture . Take the pictures on the water!

I totally agree. The other pic doesn't do the fish justice either. It actually looks like a 9.32lb fish in this photo.
