Anyone use this braid?

I did a few years ago and it seemed a little too coarse for my likeing.

I tried some a while ago and found out at least in the lower lb test's was absolute garbage. I thought maybe I got a bad spool, but I heard other with the same complaints. It was very inconsistent as far as strength went. You'd try to tie a knot and snap 1/3 as you test your knot with virtually no pressure. You'd get a knot to hold and feel good and solid and snap off 2 cast later pulling in a twig and it wouldn't break at the knot. I'm pretty careful when I tie my knots, but I thought maybe it just didn't work well with the palomar so I tried some other ones and still had the same result. I didn't hear as many bad comments about the heavier lb test so maybe that's ok, but as for me I know I won't be trying it again.

I've been using the 50# Kanzen for a few years now without any issues.  I've caught plenty of fish on it without any problems at all. Although now that I've tried the 8-strand Smackdown on a few rods this year, I like it even more.  However it's also more expensive, so there's a trade-off.

 

Currently I'm testing out the new Flippin' braid, and will post a review once I have had some time to put it through the paces.

Weird, I have 20lb Kanzen on one of my spinning reels and it's been terrific. Stuff cast a mile and I've had zero issues with breakage or fraying. I've liked it much better than the PP super slick that was on the reel previously. Never tried the heavier sizes on casting gear though. 

Like Glenn I've been using Smackdown this year and it's great. I have 15lb on my spinning reel and the diameter is so thin that it casts a mile and has great breaking strength.

I was thinking about switching from 30# PP, (which has performed well) to 50# Kansen on my Frog/Swimbait combo..

It's just a confidence thing.

Kanzen is a 4 strand braid so it's going to be course as that's what it's made for to cut through vegetation and cover smackdown is an 8 strand braid and is like silk almost in lighter lb test. I use it on my spinning rods and swim jig rods.

I'm in heavy vegetation and mats all the time. Power Pro 65 has served me very well. It rips thru anything I've put it in. For other baits the 40 and 50 do extremely well for me.

I've tried a few others that were just ok.. no breakage issues, for me they didn't cast as well short or long and the 40# braids were pron to knotting and kinking. 

I'll stick with Power pro. 

It was OK ... Smackdown is better.  

All good choices - I live dangerously by having Kanzen #8lb. braid to #4lb. Seaguar Senshi leader ; Shimano 2500 series ; BPS L weight 7' spinning rod ... I use a modified Alberto knot to join the lines together . At the business end is a 1/16th oz. Gopher mushroom jig head with a #4 size hook sporting a 1/2 a Zinkerz which I tie on with a Trilene knot - Ned Rig in case you haven't guessed . Did I mention how loose I keep my drag ? ... Gentle sweep hook set and apply a little finger pressure to the spool to supliment the drag (as required) then back reel ... When the #8lb. Kanzen is used up I will move on to better braid choices in the #8lb. to #10lb. size range - but so far I'm holding my own if I remember to be smooth and keep shock to this line down to a minimum .   

I just started using the 15# Kanzen on my dropshot setup.  So far so good.  I don't think it will replace Smackdown on any of my other rods, but I haven't seen a reason to find it awful either.
