I've always just bass fished with a jig, crankbait, spinnerbait, etc, and believe it or not, i've never used a drop shot rig in my life. I'm getting kinda bored of catching fish the same way so why not learn something new, heck, it could even turn out to be super productive. So, can someone tell me how to set up a drop shot?

Gotta agree with you Chop, it's a toss up between drop shot and c-rig for the most boring way to fish. The only thing worse than either is trolling, or not fishing at all.

You're not the only one . I've been an avid bass angler for forty years and have never used a drop shot . Nor have I ever used a wacky worm , or a Shaky jig  or alabama rig and others .  

However Aaron Martens says to do it, do that!

 

agree 100% here.  His vid's are what got me started with this fun technique.

If catching fish is boring, then yeah, its boring!

You might also suggest it for one of the best ways to catch fish under tough conditions....it ain't boring to me! Love how hard fish fight on a dropshot setup. Setting the hook on them is a lot of fun too.

All I know is if there are smallies in the waters you fish, and haven't tried the dropshot, you are really missing out! I have caught some hogs on it, and a 4 pounder will definatly fight harder than a musky.

I actually like the drop shot now. I fish Lanier and the drop shot is killer here. Really fun to fight a big spot on a light action rod and light line

Why not add T-rigged worn or craw to you techniques if you are a jig angler, they are closely related presentations.

Drop shot requires lighter tackle, lighter line and different mind set to become a good finesse angler.
