I use St. Croix, G loomis, and a few others for drop shot, finesse, or certain swimbaits, but for the money, I really like the Ducket's micro magic.

They tend to do a lot of things and are tough. I kayak fish, and I am rough on my rods and reels and they have held up nicely.

Any 7' Medium Fast with a 6.x:1 reel for me. I prefer Abu Garcia.

Brand aside , something 7' with a lure weight range of 1/4-3/4 oz (medium or medium heavy action depending on brand ) fast action, intermediate to high modulus graphite (st croix scIII for example).

I think I'm going to buy the 7 foot medium heavy, fast action g loomis e6x 843c mbr.

 

No experience with this rod, but I think it would be an excellent choice.  I can't seem to take a liking for the Mojo rods.  Personal preference.   Biggest share of my rods are all fairly versatile as most have a Fast action.  A MHF rated 1/4-3/4 or 1/4-1 oz. would be my choice for a one rod arsenal.  Although I don't have a Loomis 843, I have a couple custom rods marked 843 and several other rods that fit the same weight range.  Not much I won't fish on these rods.

Att my rods started out as versatile rods.   I was the one who assigned them their specific duties.

Different brands different actions so typically speaking, fast.

the most versatile one i have is the MBR783c GLX. spinnerbaits, swim jigs, chatterbaits, lipless cranks, jigs/t-rig. more versatile than my 843c NRX in my hands.

 

ive heard great reviews about the MBR843c GLX, would love to try one.

I think most people start with a MH/F as their first casting rod, and then start to specialize by techniques afterwards. That's what I did, and see others here do, too.
