saving money on crankbaits

Recommended Posts

looking at buying some crankbaits, jerkbaits and rattle traps has anyone tried the already painted netcraft ones that come without the hooks and or the angile lures online, just want to know your review.

looks like by the time buying hooks they will be about half the price compared to the others that are all done

Haven't ever tried those ones but you might check out the H20 lineup from Academy. Great baits and the hooks are serviceable so you can get a great bait that's ready to fish for $3 to $5 and even cheaper at times. Lots of color options and different styles of baits to choose from and I've had success with all of them that I've tried, which is almost all of them.

I have some lipless cranks and jerkbaits from Janns and they account for a lot of my catches the last couple of years. The pumpkinseed lipless is my favorite lipless bait I own.

I like the fact that you can add any hook you like and still get a bait for short money.

What are you running that through to wear the paint off the nose? I have a few battle scared traps but nothing with that kind of wear pattern.

Yep, even lost an eye on it...LOL...I pretty much fish the $H1t out of this one! My best producing trap bait.

Is that lipless bait from academy outdoors?

Sorry saugerman, just saw this.

No, I got this and 4 other different colored ones at Jann's Netcraft. You add your own hooks and split rings. I think at the time when I bought them it worked out to be $2.25/lure.

The easiest thing you can do to save money on crank baits is to invest in quality lure retrievers.   Get the extendable pole type and the hound dog type.  Mine have paid for themselves a dozen times over.

X2. I just  bought a handful of these in the lipless variety to see how they compare to my ratltraps....$2-4 cheaper than the ratltraps.
