Here is the easy explanation, i.e. - try something.   If that doesn't work as well as you hoped, try something else, either slightly different or greatly different, your choice.  As far as what size of boxes you need, what size you got?   Try those first.   If that doesn't work to your satisfaction, buy & try a different.   Repeat as necessary until you get some set up that works for you.

For a bag I used something similar to this - http://www.planomolding.com/fishing/plano-tackle-systems/448500

For boxes I would use either the 3500s that come with it or get one of these and put plastics on one side and cranks and extra jigs on the other. http://www.planomolding.com/fishing/stowawayr-utility-boxes/350022

For extra stuff like snaps, split rings, or swivels I get a small pill box from Walgreens or Wal-mart.

I also carry a lip gripper, needle nose, tape measure, stream thermometer, scissors, scent, and a good luck charm from my daughter in the bag.

I go very minimalist on tackle when on the bank, stuff I know works and something new to try. If the something new works well it gets rotated in, and something may drop. The only hiccup I have had is Zman stuff, I hand carry a separate small box for these to keep them separate from other plastics.

i dont take soft plastics out of the package

For my bank box 90% of the baits are pre rigged with maybe 1-3 spares depending on the durability of the plastic. This lets me carry a bit more of a variety in less space with me than if I carried them bagged by color and style.

I wear a vest and stuff the pockets with small boxes . I carry one rod and reel combo , so the few lures I take have to fit that combo .

For the crankbaits use the Plano Crankbait organizers.  They seem to hold a lot more hardbaits than the normal tray Planos since the angle lets you really cram them in there.  Also use Owner Hook Safety Caps to keep the crankbaits from getting tangled up.

My solution isn't to organize, but instead, to eliminate. Mobility is more important to me from the bank than having everything I own with me. A few baits that can be stuffed into pockets or carried quite easily in a single small container, along with a single outfit, is all I ever take.

I have one of of sons old school backpacks. Keep 4 plano boxes in there. 2 hold plastics, 2 hold tackle/lures. Keep scissors/grip/pliers/scent in side pockets.

I add plastics from my main stash when I need to "re-up". Easier to carry around when bank/creek fishing.

I organize the small box the same way I organize the big bag I use on the boat. I just carry less of each item.

I load up my gear in a back pack. I have a Plano worm binder for my finesse plastics and a bigger spiderwire binder for other plastics. Most my hard baits and jigs/bladded jigs are in thin 3601 Plano boxes. Boxes for jerkbaits, dd cranks, top water gets put in or taken out when the season changes. Side pockets are great for spinner baits and tools.

After a day of fishing I look at the stuff I brought and think about how much I actually used (it's usually a small %), and what I didn't bring that I wish I had (usually only a couple of items).  I've gotten it down to where I can bring three primary pieces of storage - (1) 3600 sized Plano for hardbaits, (1) 3500 sized Plano for terminal tackle and used plastics, and (1) gallon sized ZipLoc freezer bag with plastics.  I may upsize the 3600 to a 3700 if I'm fishing a new lake I'm unfamiliar with to bring more stuff, but for the lakes I fish regularly and familiar with, I can fit what I'm confident in into those three items.  They fit in almost any backpack and I can usually get away with bringing only 2 rods.

I've always Ben a fan of putting everything in Plano boxes and then shoving as many as possible in an old Alice pack a frind of mine gave me. Other then that my only tip is that organization is key.

I use a laptop backpack with 5 3600 boxes stuffed in it . Need to downsize one box to a plastics binder (to many lol) . The side pockets work great for pliers scale and beverages .

I find less is more when fishing from shore. This is me loaded for bear, usually I have just a couple of lures with me, depending on where and when I'm fishing. The only time I'll take an extra 3600 is if I'm fishing new water.
