Difference between Curado E and Curado I

Featured Replies

I'm looking at getting a new reel and I've been eyeing the Curado due to its popularity.  I'm just confused about the difference between the two.  So, what's the difference and is the E worth the $100 difference?

You may be looking at the 300e which is a bigger spoil size reel vs the 200i. But I buy my curado I's off eBay for 110-130, and I feel like they are unbeatable for a new reel in that price range.

F and G?  Just pulling your chain.  :D  I've got some Curado Es, but no Is, so I can't help you.  Based on my experience with the E model, I don't see how the I could be much better.

The I is a more refined reel than the E is in my opinion. It's been my best performing sub 180 reel. On sale at Walmart.com for 150 right now.

The main differences between the E & I are x ship which a dual bearing pinion support and the dial adjusted centrifugal brake. Whether one is better than the other depends on your personal feelings about those features.

Sheltons clothing and outdoor has it for 129 right now.  Ordered same reel from them before last summer and loved it.  (curado i)

Left off model that was on sale

I have  both the E's and the I's but in my opinion the I is a much better reel with the x ship. And its is a smoother reel .

I would go with the the new I.

Neither of them compare to the old d's imo. Anyway between the e and I series I'd pick the I. I'd also go with the citica if you can find it cheaper. I have both and they are identical performance wise. I can't understand why anyone would pay more for the curado.

The E is a more user friendly reel and a supreme caster in my opinion and experience. The I looks sexy and feels nice in hand but it's quirky from my limited experience. I can't backlash the E but the I had no problem backlashing the I....not a fan of touchy reels. My thumb no likey! Spoiled thumb I guess! I also loved the D series that someone mentioned. Very smooth reels!

I own a D, i, and an E. The D is an absolute tank. It's very smooth and casts pretty well but if I'm going for absolute distance I pick up my super tuned E. I can make a 60yd cast with 3/8oz head and 5" swimbait. If I fished tournaments I would definitely want all i's though. They're smooth very powerful and mine casts almost as far as my super tuned E and the svs brakes are wonderful when dealing with wind. I generally have one brake block on and the dial set to 2.

I have found i need three brakes on with the I, dial on two, and a little loose on the cast control. The E was just two brakes, forget it,and loose cast control.

I agree with the I on three shoes and two on the dial. I did use two shoes and six on the dial for a while but it didn't leave any room for on the fly wind adjustments.  I found when not using max effort casts I could lower the dial but needed to thumb it carefully (all with loose tension brake) but it casted effortlessly.

The x-ship gives the reel an effortless(smooth)  retrieve that I like.
