I caught this fish last year late winter. I didn't have a scale to weigh it and I'm just curious to how much it weighed. What's your guys opinions? I think between 5-6

Id say 4 max mid 5. Its a chunk but not long enough to break 6. That's my opinion. Nice catch nonetheless!

Probably four to five pounds from the picture, but it's awfully hard to guess from a photograph without the measurements.  I held my 10.3lb. pb so badly for the picture it looked like a six to seven pounder!  Luckily I was able to get a better picture when my buddy held it, otherwise nobody would have believed that it actually weighed 10.3 lb.  In order to get an accurate estimate, you really need the length and girth measurements.  So it might be larger than everyone's guessing, but even if it's not, it is still a great fish!

I'd be surprised if it went much over 4.  But then fish always looks smaller to me when someone else is holding them.

That's a nice fish!  I would guess around 5 lbs more or less, but pics can be deceiving.    

If you get caught without a scale try clipping a length of line the same length as the bass (and do the same for girth if you have time). With those measurements you can get a fairly accurate estimate on weight.

Hard to guess. Fish is actually held away from the camera and no length measurement. First guess would be 3.5 to 5 pounds but it could be off...

3-5 pounds including the weight of the rag.

I'm guessing it'd go right at 4. Length and girth measurements help a ton in this situation. 

Is there a quarter pound penalty for using a rag?

Look at Joey Bass' fish he caught in a post in this section of the forums about 10 posts down from your's.  His bass was 5 pounds 2 ounces.  See how your fish compares to his and there's your best estimate.  Keep in mind perspective.  You look smaller(skinnier) than Joey Bass, so factor that in too.  

Comparing pictures really does little good because a lot depends on how the fish is held. A poorly presented fish can look way smaller, while a fish held to the camera properly can appear much larger, like this one from Table Rock.

That fish was only 3lbs 3oz.

True.  I guess that's why I carry a scale with me every time I go fishing.  That way there's little speculation.
