Size doesn't matter

Featured Replies

We had an awesome day fishing Spots and even hit a few smallies. We boated at least 60 fish. As the day rolled on my buddy (drop shot guy) started going through my plastics and to find obscure things just to make it more of a challenge.

This is an 11" ribbon worm on a drop shot and the 12" fish that hit it. We had a good laugh.

You would think the bait would intimidate smaller fish but not always.

However don't be fooled into thinking that a 12 inch worm will catch just as many as, let's say a 7".

The pic is my partner taken last week in the Stick Marsh, That fish had no business being out in open water, He is going to be a mean one in years to come.

Catching a lot of little ones like that can really make the day fly by when the big bass can't be found.

My favorite trips have always been the ones where I catch a bunch.  I enjoy catching big bass as much as the next guy, but sometimes it's just fun to go out and catch the tar out of those little guys.

The region I live in has a nice mixture of both kinds of lakes. You can go chase a small number of good fish or go to a place where 25 fish is a slow day.

It's all good times.

I'll always would rather take some small ones than get skunked, it's still fun catching the tiny ones. Caught this one on a 10 inch ribbon tailimage.jpeg

The size of the lure doesn't matter, what matters is that the lure is presented at the right time with the right technique. The current Texas state record Bass was caught by a Crappie fisherman and this Bass was +18 pounds.Other records where caught with relatively small lures as well.

Awesome! Just putting fish in the boat is fun enough! :)

sometimes I like catching numbers and sometimes I want those hogs and will fish big baits only.

depends on how the fishing has been lately.   If I've had a few days where the numbers were good, that's when I get the itch to go big or go home.
