Nitro z18

Featured Replies

I recently purchased a new Nitro z18 I found that the location of the stern eyes will not allow you to install a power pole will not allow you install a Jack Plate so the configuration of the boat that you buy off the showroom floor is what you're stuck with unless you want to void the transom warranty and the engine warranty by adding accessories also you cannot order this boat from the factory with a hydraulic jack plate you can't even order it with a manual Jack Plate there has been no data compiled by the manufacturer which will allow you to do that that's why if you put on an atlas hydraulic jack plate 6-inch setback you void your warranty now I'm stuck with a $30,000 boat that I can't dress out the way I want without voiding the warranty on it

Omg, seriously? What the heck are they thinking?!!

Thanks for letting us know.

Funny, I see all their sponsor boats have it on them....guess their warranties are all voided.

The Z-18 is available with an 8" adjustable jack plate.  It is a $380 option listed on the Nitro website.  I have ordered and delivered this setup to one of my customers.

Yep.  Go to Nitro's site online, choose 2016 Z18 and then click on "Build a Boat" on the menu bar at the top of the page.  You will see it listed under the "Functional" options.

I'm not so sure this is true, I'm not a genius when it comes to the z18's but I just sent an angler up to my dealer which had a Z18 on the floor and I think I remember him asking about a jack plate and him saying it shouldn't be a problem, and the power-poles should definitely not be a problem, I may be wrong but looking at them, I highly doubt this information is correct. I'll investigate further and see what's going on. Nitro makes a great boat, the problem is some dealers and service guys have no clue what they are talking about. Plus the website shows you can get it as an option. Check with a different dealer.

I just talked to my dealer at Bass Pro Shop and they said that they don't advise installing a power pole. I asked for another option and they suggested a micro pole, which is too small... Now I would think if you'd install the jack plate that you could install a power pole but it will void the warranty... So why should I buy a 31000.00 boat and not install a power pole???? Nitro please explain....

Not nitro, but some sales person who doesn't know anything about what they're selling is more the problem here I think.

You can add a jack plate to pretty much any bass boat.. Once you have a jack plate you can add a powerpole to that. More expensive way of getting your power pole but you dont have to touch your transom.

No offense but your sales guy seems like an idiot

This is just crazy about the power poles on a Nitro Z18, I see that on MLF they are using the Nitro Z18 with Power Poles. So they are voiding the warranty??? I really like the Nitro Boats, but I'm thinking of looking at a Ranger. Having Power Poles is a must for me, I can't see myself in a tournament without them...

No...

in order to not void the Mecury warranty, a power pole must use a jackplate and the correct bracket (this is all boats, not just nitro). Nitros dont come with jackplates stock. It's a 380$ option..get one and you're fine.

You are correct as of last month and after constant calling to Nitro directly, they have offered a solution. Just as you said you have to add a jack plate first and the brackets are special order for the power poles. I wanted to buy this boat at the beginning of the summer and was told by other that I'd void the warranty (some said otherwise)... Well I just bought a 2016 Z18 from Bass Pro Shop with two power poles, and Nitro wants all who want power poles installed to sign a wavier. It should not void the warranty, but I have yet to see this document to review (waiting on those brackets to arrive)...

I did talk to a person at Bass Pro  Shop that will be out-fitting my boat just to find out about the effects of adding power poles. I'm told that a customer called back in February (that had the power poles installed) was complaining about getting up on plane, slower performance on hole-shots... I'm hoping that since I have opted to get the 175 HP Merc (other than the 150HP) that I will have fewer problems as they did...

So I guess we'll see how thing work out, sure is a lot of money spent to find out , but oh well... other boats just had to high a price tag for me...

Anyone have any comments on maybe installing a Atlas Hydraulic Jack Plate instead of the Manual Jack Plate. Do you think that would be a better option? Thinking about doing this next season... Or might add a little weight to the bow to help get to plane quicker... Of course I will update everyone on the progress and performance once I have the boat in-hand and on the water...

Thank you isbass8 for your reply...

I'm not very smart but, how would a powerpole affect the motor?

There's a bulletin on the Mercury warranty page as well as hundreds of topics discussing it at nausea in detail via google

What's the hot option?

Well it been 5 weeks since I have started the purchase of my 2016 Nitro Z18, and I'm still waiting... Problems: well they forgot to order the brackets for the power poles, then they told me about having to move the stern eyes (fiber glass repair needed), then there has been a re-call alert on the trailer (for the brakes)....

Yea, still waiting... And I'm not very happy, missing tournaments each week... Waiting for a call from Bass Pro Shop for a status today, and none not one call today... I'm starting to think I have made a major mistake, but they have my money already... with options (upgraded the fish finders 2 power poles, a center seat, jack plate, installation cost.... Total 41,851.76, could have gotten a Ranger (maybe a small Ranger)... or other brand, at least I'd be fishing...

Well...that'S  on BPS, not the Nitro. Every dealer I found had a quote + the 7 year platnium warranty cheaper than BPS.

To be fair, 5 weeks is pretty quick if you are getting your boat built. 8-10 is pretty normal. Mine took 9. Every boat you buy new and have ordered takes a long time unless you get it off the showroom.
