Mr. Clean Magic Eraser

Simple Green (or any cleaner/degreaser) and a tooth brush. Be sure to rinse.

I use a tooth brush and a very small drop of dawn on the brush

I use a very high grit sand paper like 450 and gently sand the grip until it feels smooth and put on some U40 cork sealant and your done! I did it to some of my Megabass rods and they still look new after 3-4 years of use.

Only if the few drops of dawn on warm water don't work, fine grit I only use on heavy soiled cork. I use the U40 religiously, this will keep from ever having to use such material as sandpaper to clean the cork, as it is an excellent sealer and will help preserve the cork.

Simple Green works. Dawn works. The Magic Eraser works. And fine sandpaper is sometimes required for really stained cork. U40 is really good. So is TruOil.

Do NOT use steel wool. It will leave tiny fragments behind. Which will rust. That is hard to get rid of.

Dirty cork =mojo. Never clean the cork!

I've always just used baking soda in water and a tooth brush. Works well.

Exactly.

I hit them with some 600 grit sand paper every 3 years or so, or when they get mostly black and slick. But mostly I do the Mojo thing above.

Mr. Clean Magic Eraser followed by U-40 cork sealer. Stays looking new for years.
