Line Color

Featured Replies

I plan on purchasing some 20lb CXX to use for swimbaits and maybe the occasional A-rig.

I have typically used moss green CXX, but I'm wondering if clear would be less visible when the water is more clear...

Does it really matter? Anyone have a link to some good info on this, or just a personal experience story?

Or should I just go with fluoro so that it's completely invisible? The only problem I have with that is that I'm super confident in the strength of CXX...

^^^ Does it really matter? No

I use strait braid 90% of the time no leaders and dont have any problems catching fish. I have several colors on my rods and on any given day they all perform about the same.

I think people give the fish way more bains than most people have. Hey if your pocket book can buy every gimmick they push, tie on all the fluorocarbon leaders your fingers can handle. Switch line colors as the weather changes. etc etc

If your not putting the right bait in the right places at the right time it wont matter if you use a bootlace for line.  Just my .02

Though I agree with some of this, I do have to say that sometimes fluoro will clearly outfish braid, I've seen it happen.

But I do think you're right that green vs clear cxx probably doesn't matter...

I don't think it matters. For me it is more of a personal choice.

Choose the color that best compliments your rod & reel.

I say it is just personal preference

Line has zero relevance with big swim baits. You'll notice that after about your tenth follower.
