Does anybody feel they need more than 60 seconds per pick? ESPN doesn't let me make it 90 for rounds *** and 60 there after. It's set at 60 at the moment but if anybody feels they would like 90, I'll change it.

If anybody has connection problems prior to the draft(or during it), let me know via PM and i'll give you my cell number so you can text me your picks and i'll put them in for you while you reconnect.

Let's make it interesting,  15 second per draft. ...:P

60 has worked well for my other leagues.

I have a feeling Team Untouchable is going to feel all cuddly after the first week.

I may have to take you up on your offer. We'll be somewhere in Wyoming heading for Colorado on Sunday. Don't know where we'll be spending the night just yet or if we'll even have cell service.

I'll let you know.

Hey guys, was setting up my draft rankings and going over league and roster settings and a couple things caught my attention. We have 16 available roster spots, but with the current settings we can only have 15 roster spots filled.

With the roster limit set at 4 RB, 5 WR and 2 TE, it makes it extremely hard to draft and not have to drop players you may not want to just to cover bye weeks since teams are bound to have players with the same bye in smaller leagues. Increasing the RB and WR limit by 1 would be more fair.  For example, most people are probably going to play a combination of 6 RB/WR weekly. That only leaves a bench of three player options to cover bye weeks and injuries.

I edited this to make it easier to read and understand. I know I am a little late bringing this up, but just had a newborn recently and haven't had time to thoroughly check over everything.

I agree, the max RB and WR should each go up 1

I just think it makes it extremely hard to use the waiver wire and also makes the draft more interesting as well. I don't necessary think people should be forced to carry two defenses or quarterbacks for example. Increasing the limit also allows people use all kind of different draft strategies, but at the same time gives players the needed depth to cover their bye weeks, unexpected injuries and even sleeper picks that are unlikely to even be useful but could be high reward if they have a breakout year for whatever reason.

I believe last year we had the same bench size. The only change that was made this year was adding a wide receiver spot. The reason behind the short bench, and if any of you remember last year who played, the waiver wire was chocked full of talent  on a weekly basis. It seemed like a third of the way through the season it was pretty much a set it and forget it type of league which got pretty stagnant  due to the fact that our lineup was more so based off a 12 person . The short bench  is to ensure activity between everybody and making it so people are not hoarding skill position players in an eight team league.  Last year when certain players got hurt their back ups were sitting on the waiver wire for 2 to 3 weeks  because people just did not need to use the waiver wire . Again this is due to an eight person league where everyone pretty much has a dream team coming out of the draft.

However, if you guys would like an  additional roster spot for a certain skill position, please come to an agreement amongst yourselves and I'll make the changes you guys want. I can see the argument for adding a running back spot to the bench (making it five max ) but adding a wide receiver on top of the five already is excessive for an 8 teamer

The idea was to add a little depth to the bench while still preventing hoarding. The problem with having a flex option including TE instead of just RB and WR is that is values TE too much because of the cap limit. And also allows people to over draft that position with no worries of risk because of the cap limit since the gap between TE is pretty big. I vote to increase RB by 1 at a minimum but think both by 1 is a fair.

I see what you're saying and would agree with you if the league was deeper. It's highly unlikely that more than 8 tight ends maybe nine are going to be drafted and aside from bye weeks or the occasional injury you're never going to touch that position.  If you're the type that wants to play a wide receiver in your flex then at the bare minimum you're looking at wide receiver 25 to 30 in your flex which in most lakes is a wr2/3  which has more upside and probably a higher floor then the number 10 tight end.   Same argument goes for running back except that your flex position you can be playing rb17-20. Unless you have gronk and hit on your wide receivers perfectly in the draft you're not playing a tight end in your flex position.

Do you want me to remove tight end all together from the flex or  all together and keep the tight end in the flex ? I believe the gronk owner last year finished dead last.

Just going off last year I wanted to make the rosters that were being played week to week as large as possible with a shallow bench because there was a HUGE amount of talent from the player pool left on the waiver wire. It wasn't just back ups that were left there. Players like Latavius Murray, Justin forset, I don't think anyone owned any Brown's running back ever, eric decker, and so on we're always available. That was the point behind making a deeper roster.

Let me know what you guys think by Saturday afternoon or Saturday night so I can make the changes for everyone to see my SundayLet me know what you guys think by Saturday afternoon or Saturday night so I can make the changes for everyone to see my Sunday

It is always tricky to get the perfect settings in smaller leagues. There is just a lot of talent left at the end of the day. This is how I look at the current situation and why I mentioned it to see what others thought. Nobody knows how the draft will go and what others do, but say someone drafts the best player on the board with every pick. They end up having two backs and a receiver on the same bye week. Like you said, unless you drafted Gronk, you are most likely going to play a RB or WR receiver in the flex spot. That leaves you with your three bench players. However, one of your bench receivers is playing Seattle and you would rather take a chance with someone on the waiver wire this week because of Sherman. It would force you to drop said player to substitute someone off waivers. It could be a game changing player but you just don't like that week's matchup. You are either forced to play the guy anyway or pray nobody steals him from you off the waiver wire the following week. I don't think anyone wants to lose a tier 2 or better player in that situation. Most would probably just handicap themselves and hope they don't get locked down by Sherman.

I understand wanting to make the league active throughout the season. But some people just prefer to set and forget. I'm more the type that likes to check match ups and players on a week to week basis. I think the current limit effects active teams and strategy more than it helps to promote more activity. Another thing is with a borderline limit like we have set, the inactive teams likely have the worse records and end up with top waiver priority every week based on the rankings. Granted, I'm fine with whatever the league votes on. Just wanted to bring it to everyone's attention and see what everyone thought.

Honestly that situation is exactly why we decided on a shorter bench. It's actually pretty fun having to make that decision with such a unique, small league that we have. Just something to set it apart from simply drafting your handcuffs, getting upside players late, and then going through the motions in the WW.  Every team is essentially a dream team coming out of the draft more or less in a 8 teamer. Having to decide between having a player in the same bye week as well as what to do on bye weeks is what makes this format exciting.

Let's just say nobody starts a RB in the flex and everybody starts 4 WR. The WORST RB started is just based off ADP is Latavius Murray. The WORST WR started is John Brown at ADP 32. If everybody keeps the 5 WR max on their team the waiver wire will still be stacked with lots of talent and upside. Same goes for RB.

I do understand where you are coming from though and there is merit to making it a 6 bench no cap on players. Would that be more ideal? I could get behind that if that would make others happy as well. Being that we are a small league, I do prefer to keep the bench spots short to reduce player hording and making it less competitive.

Would you guys rather have an uncapped 6 person bench instead of a 6 person bench with player limits?

Please let me know ASAP.

I'm cool with a 6 person, uncapped bench.  I definitely want to keep the bench short but it probably does make sense to not put any limits on the 6.   The waiver wire will still be plenty active but nobody will be forced to potentially cut a top end starter due to bye weeks or injuries.  Makes sense to me.

That is a great option as well. It doesn't force anyone to take two quarterbacks or defenses while giving players more freedom and preventing hoarding. I'll add a vote for 6 player bench uncapped.

Draft order goes live in 29 minutes and draft starts in 1 hour 29 minutes!

Made RB 5 max (start 2) and WR 6 max(start 3) per team. Bench stays same at 6 spots.
