I used to use the Palomar knot almost exclusively to tie everything.  It was quick and nothing beats its strength.  But I have to admit I've become a fan of the Triline knot.  It's quick to tie, strong, and usually tightens up correctly.  I think I read somewhere I badly tied Triline knot is still very strong.  With the basic uni-knot and Triline knot, you have two strong/super strong knots that are quick to tie and almost tighten correctly 100% of the time.  The Palomar knot is quick to tie but it seems to use/waste more line when tying and it's a pain to tie with some lures with treble hooks. 

 I mess around with braid a little and when I put on a leader I use the Crazy Alberto knot.  This knot is like the uni knot and Triline knot - quick to tie and tightens up correctly almost 100% of the time. Plus the knot looks very streamlined and in my opinion it is one of the prettiest knots I've seen. 

 The Triline and Crazy Alberto - strong and quick to tie.  Anybody else a fan? 

Those are what I use.

I was taught the trilene knot as a kid and I haven't had any reason to change. I will on occasion use a polamor knot when tying at home just for the heck of it really. I just started using Alberto knot and have seen a few others but as you said its the easiest to tie and I believe it to be plenty strong 

I use those almost 100% of the time

The trilene to connect fluoro to baits, and the alberto to connect fluoro leaders to braid main line.

The only other knot I use is the palomar to tie lures direct to braid.

The trilene knot is basically the only knot I use on braid. Excellent knot that never fails. 

Nope, but almost - Alberto for the majority of line to line connections, but  while Trilene and Palomar are nearly equal in fluoro and nylon/copoly, the Palomar is significantly better in braid, so it's still the only knot I use for line to bait connections. I'll live with the line loss since you should be cutting off the working end of your line frequently, anyway.

I'm down to just four...still need to simplify, I suppose:

Leader: Alberto;

Braid: Palomar;

SD Jam: All other lines to lure..I'm a recent convert and completely sold on this one

.....except on rare occasions for jerk/dog walkers: Rapala (loop knot)

Maybe I should start another thread, but I don't understand where all the wasted line comes from when useing the Palomar. Pull the main line to cinch and tag to tighten. There is no more waste than any other knot.

Maybe I tie it wrong, but on larger baits, I too, end up with a much longer tag than with other knots...bigger the bait; bigger the tag

At least a foot or two EVERY time.

Agree on line waste, but also, with a big triple treble lure, it can be maddening.  I've heard all the horror stories about flouro needing special knots, but I use the simple knots with no problems.  I lube with spit and make sure to really pull the main line tightly to set the knot.  If there is a problem (with mono or FC) I have not found it.  Braid is another animal, and Berkely nano even another.

I use a uni-to-uni knot for my line to leader connection, but I use the Trilene knot for line to lure connections for all line types including braid.  I also learned this knot as a kid and it works great for me.
