So I'm going fishing at 2 ponds soon that I know hold some big bass. These ponds are cattle ponds so they are very muddy. Both are pretty shallow. 4ft max. One pond has 3 trees and a small island that's about 5ft around. The other has a bunch of bushes, grass, and trees in it. 

Seriously they are only 4ft deep? Not sure where your at but here in Texas that would dry up to a puddle every summer.what I'm saying is there would be no fish. 

But hey if there are fish as you say and big ones I'd take some worms to t-rig and spinnerbait or chatterbaits for sure.

If you have the equipment, a hollow body frog with a couple of rattles inserted inside could get you what you're looking for. If not, a Colorado spinnerbait or boot tail swim bait will give off plenty of vibration. If you an add a rattle, even better. 

Rat wake bait like Spro ZZ1 size 50.

Sounds like perfect water for a dark colored bladed jig. It's bulky and the strong, steady vibration helps the fish hone in with their lateral line, which will probably be their main means of finding fish in really dirty water.

Bigger lures, very bright or very dark lures, and those with high vibration are best for muddy water. However, you mentioned that you will be targeting bigger bass. I have found that I catch bigger bass with more consistency when using more "subtle" baits to target them. Even in muddier water. For that reason, rat and wake baits as others have mentioned should work well, as should 10" and bigger worms; preferably ribbon tail so that it gives off some vibration. Hollow body frogs should also work well, but one thing to consider is popping vs non-popping frogs. For whatever reason, I have never caught a 5lb plus bass on a popping frog. They have all been on non-popping frogs; and I fish the heck out of frogs. I think this might go back to the "subtle" idea. Then again, it might just be lack of luck too. 

I don't use popping frogs. But a popper like a rebel popr or rapala skitter pop I've caught several 5+ 

I'd try a Keitech Swing Impact Fat swim bait size 4.8" dark color on an Owner spring lock weighted hook about a 4/0 or 5/0 size.
