Invisx As Leader?

Featured Replies

InvisX, Sniper, and CFX is what I use for leaders and they all work great.  Got just over a dozen spools of InvisX at over half off when Sports Authority was closing out their fishing sections, haven't had any issues with it.

8 pound is pretty light for most casting rod presentations...

But I use leftover spools of line for leaders.

Use Invisx for my leaders as well.  Have spools from 6lb to 17lb for just leaders.

It'll work just fine. I have leftover spools of Invisx, Red Label, Big Game, C21 all laying around to use for leader material.

I use InvisX leaders a lot.  So long as it isn't super heavy cover or top water, it works great.  What are you planning on fishing on it?  Which Seaguar?

Apologies, just misread.  You're using InvisX.

I've used it. It's really, really stretchy. Higher pound tests are better but really why waste expensive mainline as a braid leader?

Save yourself some money and stick with Red Label

I use 17lb Invisix for a leader on a regular basis and it does great.

I use 8lb for a leader on my spinning rod. And I've been known to use 12lb on my casting rods.

I use 6# Inviz-X leaders on my DS rods and 8# on my tube rod.

yeah i broke off on n 8.5 pounder today...:(

You were able to get it on a scale before breaking off?

LOL, just teasing.  Fish that break off, you can add several lbs. to the estimate.

Back to the original question... You can use whatever you want for a leader.  You have to decide what it is that you want that the braid isn't doing.  For me, abrasion resistance is what I want in a leader, so I use Seaguar Fluoro Leader Material. What size depends on the gear, presentation, and cover.  If you broke off at the leader, then you forgot to set the drag to 1/3 of the weakest link in the system.
