Suggest Your Favorite Braid, FC & Mono.

Recommended Posts

Just as the title says! Post up your favorite braid, FC & Mono.

I'm trying to get away from the Suffix mono I've been using and I'm debating on switching up from Power Pro to something else.

I've heard Izorline CoPoly is great as well but I don't know. All suggestions are welcome, I wanna' get this order in.

If I had an unlimited budget I'd go with Sufix 832 for braid, FC Sniper for fluoro, and Trilene XT for mono.  There might be better but those are on the list of what I've tried so far and haven't found a reason to try anything new.

So you're saying Sufix over Power Pro?

PP super slick

sunline super sniper

maxima ultragreen

10# super slick on a spinning reel will throw mega bombs, it's amazing how good it casts(never used 832 but I'm sure it's the same way)

Power Pro or Power Pro with a CX leader.

I don't use Mono or FC. Can't stand either of them.

Well to make it easier, I fish Mono on my 6'6 MF for my topwaters, I do braid w/ a mono or fluoro leader for my 6'9 ML for ned rig and other finesse presentations and straight braid on my 6'6 MH for frogs and heavier lures.

Power Pro for the braid, Seaguar Invizx for the fluoro and Sufix Elite Mono.

I wanna' upgrade.

The only thing you should upgrade is that suffix elite, that stuff has always been like winding a slinky on a spinning reel for me, cheap route trilene xl more expensive route would be maxima ultragreen for a better spinning mono.

AMEN MAN. GOOD LORD.

I've seen Suffix suggested here MANY times throughout the years and after I bought it last year, it did turn into a slinky. It's so frail too.

I'll look into this Maxima stuff.

If you have PowerPro and like it, I'd just stick with Power Pro.  80% of my reels that use braid have PowerPro, the others have 832, with a couple of oddball lines mixed in as I was trying different brands.  4 strands vs 8 strands - I'm not dialed in enough to my casts to know if one or the other is getting me a few extra feet/yards on a cast and I haven't done a side by side comparison test.  The 8 strands of the 832 does feel a bit smoother when it's freshly spooled as well so I'm assuming there might be a little benefit there with guide friction.

Izorline XXX copoly is your best bet for a strong managable line

If you don't mind the cost, try the new American tackly Bushido Combat braid.  I have it in 15# and love it (spin).  After that, Suffix 832.

My favorite FC = none

My favorite mono:  Trilene extra smooth

I like trilene xl but if yo have been using Suffix Elite and are not pleased with it , you wont like XL either . If you  are using Siege then try xl or Elite .

Have used power pro and suffix mono going on almost 5 years. I guess there might be better lines but they haven't let me down yet. The money I've saved sticking with what works goes towards baits or the retirement account.

I don't know what class it falls into but I am moving all my spinning equipment from PPS8 to Gliss.    Gliss in 24lb test has no memory fishes a lot like braid but comes off the spool and through the guides very quiet with great casting distance and is incredibly thin.    Depending on what I am using the rod for I may use a FC leader or on some things I just tie direct.

Gliss with a leader on spinning equipment works very well.
