I'm looking to unload  a few of my combos and build an higher end all purpose setup. Being a bank beater and kayak fisherman I don't feel the need to keep so many setups, when at the most I can carry is 3. I have 2 awesome customs from DVT, one spinning and one paired with a Daiwa Steez ex100 which is an awesome reel  my dilemma is I plan on picking up a Megabass orochi diablo spec r and am torn between 2 reels and was looking for some feedback from anyone who may have handled either.

Looking at either the new Metanium hgl or Daiwa zillion tw sv. Never owned a shimano but obviously they have quite the following, really like the sound of the sv spool setup.

Like I said general purpose setup for t-rigs, jigs, cranks here and there.

Wow that is a really tough choice... I'd probably lean towards the metanium just because of weight. For general use you don't need ultra-tough like the zillion. Not that the metanium isn't tough but you get my point

Daiwa Steez SV TWS Casting Reels at $499.99, or Daiwa Zillion SV TW Casting Reels at $299.99 ???

Metaniums are super fine reels, Zillions are also great, I may love my Daiwas but in this case I would go Metanium.

The JDM MGL with the shallower spool would be my choice. A bit over $300 but a very nice reel and much lighter than either of those Zillions.

Never used either reel...or held one.  After some research I have to agree I would pick the MGL, and over half my reels are Daiwas.  A quick search turned up one for $311.   BTW, you've got some nice rods.  My Diablo has a tuned 50th Anniversary Zillion on it.  Think it will stay there.  Makes a pretty nice combo.

I'd go with the daiwa because of spool and other customizing options,  and also because of the t-wing and sv stock spool.  Also the price is cheaper and Imo the daiwa braking system is better,  especially with an sv spool

digitaka has the JDM MGL for $322 shipped.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. I know I'll be satisfied with either but will have that feeling of what if...thinking I might go metanium but then eventually upgrading my steez to a sv spool. Why can't I ever just be satisfied with what I got?!

Well to add a new monkey wrench into the situation, I have a local guy trying to sell a used twice curado 200i along with a bunch of tackle for $140. Knowing it's not a metanium, but an overall workhorse and will very easily be more practical for this weekend warrior. But who can resist the allure of the latest and greatest... any users of the curado I please free to commention. I did get my orochi type r last week and WOW am I impressed!

I have both the Curado I and 13 Metanium. As well as the Chronarch and Tatula. I have caught some big fish on the Curado, but if you are going to be casting day in and day out from the bank, I would go with the Metanium. Majority of my fishing is on local ponds from the bank. Your casts tend to be longer since you are not on a boat. That means a lot more cranking. Better to have the smoother more powerful reel IMO.
