I'll be in Florida at the wwos for a soccer tournament next week and was looking to do some fishing. Any tips? Not necessarily looking for spots more baits to use. Thanks

Thanks. Trick worms are my favorite baits in SC. Do you fish them weightless or weighted?

I do both. Depends on how mucky the bottom is

 hollow belly frogs.

4" senko type bait  is a killer in Florida.  It will catch bass of all sizes.  Most often fish it weightless or a 1/32 weight, so it falls slowly through the entire water column.  Watermelon red, junebug for stained water, morning dawn, and Okeechobee are good Florida colors.  

thanks for all the help. Sounds like I need to bring worms, senkos, frogs, and maybe a moving bait. Will the fish be more active this time of year since it's the coldest it will get even though it's still warm?

The bass fishing has been on fire for me this whole month and I expect it to remain that way since we are in the pre spawn/spawn now. Coldfronts do slow down the fishing, but you should still be able to catch bass,even on the coldest days. Fishing lures very slow is a good technique to catch bass down here during/after a cold front.

Hollow body frogs and any kind of baitfish. In my experience you can tell what they eat as soon as you catch your first bass. Big teeth equals more bait fish less is more for worms. My .02

Tight lines

All bass baits work well in Florida. But keep in mind when choosing which baits to bring, that, especially in S Fl, there is heavy vegetation in many areas, and open water spots are often shallow, and bottoms are usually grassy or lined with algae muck.

Frog, stick bait, spinnerbait, creature and paddletail swim baits all in various colors and sizes depending on water, location and vegitation.
