Havoc Pit Boss

Featured Replies

Its a great bait.I've noticed lately that the stock at BPS is a third of what it was.Odd search results on the website too.It looks like they pulled the pit boss off the havoc line and re branded under powerbait. Also a nice price hike.Anyone else notice this?

I was just in BPS and can confirm the Pit Boss is now in the powerbait line as well.    On on another note, has anyone fished one like a swimbait? Pretty crazy action and the bass around her

Just scored 15 bags of Lime-purple passion and 18 bags of sapphire blue. At least I'll get through this year.

I seem to remember a "Fan Vote" contest a while back in which Berkley ran asking fans what Havoc baits they would like to see infused with power bait. The Pit Boss stomped the other choices. I emailed them asking them if that meant the Pit Boss was going to be moved to the Power Bait line, as I love the Pit Boss...................I didn't save the response but it was basically......."No the Havoc Pit Boss is a huge success, the power bait version will just be an additional offering"

I would be ok with the extra money

I was just in BPS and can confirm the Pit Boss is now in the powerbait line as well.

On on another note, has anyone fished one like a swimbait? Pretty crazy action and the bass around here go crazy for it. 1/4 oz pegged weight and a Texas rigged ewg hook and you're good to go! My fav color is sapphire blue.

If you run a 3" Pit Boss or a 2.8" Keitech Crazy Flapper vertically on a drop shot it is incredibly productive.

By vertically I mean the bait 90 degrees up from the normal flat, crawdad type rigging that it will be used for 99% of the time, so it looks more like a fish.

I did read some stuff recently with the corporation that owns Berkley and several other brands was possibly breaking up being sold off, employees were being laid off etc. or something to that effect.  Not sure if that is or will affect the supply of baits though.

I like to keep that on the down low....................but yes a pit boss alone, fished as a swim bait, either with a belly weighted "rage rig" or with a sinker pegged to it's nose has caught me a LOT of fish the last few years.

I fish them in a a lot of diff. ways. As a flipping bait, jig trailer, swimjig or chatterbait trailer, as a swimbait, I drop shot them, drag them around on biffle type wobble heads, fish them weightless on top like a frog, on shaky heads, and probably a couple other ways I can't remember.

They're my favorite bladed jig trailer because of the great swimming action.

You can do a lot of things with that bait, they catch a lot of fish, price point is awesome, and each size has its time and place. I have nothing bad to say about the pit boss.

However I don't think I would opt for a smellier version of one.

Hope they don't entirely change it to powerbait. I personally don't like powerbait.

I'm no fan of the slime and stink either. Please keep the Havoc line of the Pit Boss. I also use them heavily. I use them as trailers for just about everything.

I use them on C-Rigs and do well. Also a very good swim jig trailer.

My favorite flipping bait.  Probably my #1 producing bait this past season. However, with the price hike I probably will go back to my previous favorite soft plastic the Biffle Bug.

This is pretty much all I use almost on blades jigs since seeing your post with them rigged vertical. I was quite bummed to see Lime Purple Passion seems to be discontinued.

Rage Menace in KVD Magic is my future replacement for that color whenever my supply of Line-Purple Passion Pitboss runs out.

Saw that yesterday while scanning Siebert's for an order and thought it looked pretty similar. I think I will pick up a pack or two.

Anybody get the powerbait version and fish it yet? Thinking the powerbait plastic formulation might be different giving it a different action. I always thought that powerbait had a different texture vs other plastics? Personally I vote for the havoc line since I use my own scent anyways.

I just started using the pit boss recently.I sometimes do well topwater with them ,just keeping a steady retrieve.Sometimes the bite is best with a stop and go retrieve just under the surface at a speed where you just start to make a wake. When I see the wake starting,I stop the retrieve then start again.Deadly.

Have caught a few just letting it sink.

Been flirting with big fish ,missed a couple.

I hope they don't mess it up and that they keep it like it is.This bait just made it into my " Circle of trust " baits.

I have a hoard of the 3".I'm going to buy as many as I can find. The Powerbait ones have that stink.Ill try them when I run out of these.Hopefully that won't happen.

Okechobee craw and Big Texan I love.I grabbed some Blue shiner gold that's going to look great on a bluegill or baby bass swim jig.

Now I am worried that there is something wrong with me as I have never noticed Powerbait to have much of a smell at all.

Anyone that has some 4" Lime-purple passion to get rid of let me know.
