What do you guys use for actions on your medium sized jig rods? And any recommendations for a good rod no more than $200? Thanks!

I like a fast or xf action except for crankbaits and extra heavy slop rods.

$200 ALX Zolo Deputy MH, 7'1"

both rods are ideal jig rods, MH fast. no standard to evaluate power or fast vs Xfast action without touch and feel.

Either a fast or extra fast action with power depending upon the weight of the jig I'm throwing and the cover that I'm working.

I use a Fenwick Aetos 7'2 mh/xf

I have that rod as well and it works well. 

check out the St Croix Avid 68mxf

I usually use a MHF, but depending on the cover I will use a HF.

Once again I'm in the minority here it appears, but I've never been a fan of F/XF rods for jigs. I prefer to have just a tad more flex down the blank when jig fishing. As WRB stated, there is no real standard in ratings, so you have to just use what feels right to you. Several rods I've liked were actually labeled as 'fast' yet still had that slightly more flex down the blank.

I absolutely see where you're coming from. A little more flex can be nice when using braid, as long as there's enough backbone to set the hook and keep it pinned. I usually use fluoro, and a F or even XF works well for me, but with braid I want a bit more flex.

I just got a 744 and it feels like a nice stick. A bit tip heavy. It's action and power are what I would consider MH-F.

Ok, to be more specific, GLoomis power 3 or 4, Shimano MHF, HF

My favorite jig rod is an original series  Powell Max 683 CEF. It is listed as a 6'8" inch mh ef,  If you bend the rod it bends down to the 5 guide (tip plus four) so I think it would fall into Team 9nines definition. Powell suggested using this rod for jigs,  Sencos,  spinnerbaits, flukes and texas rigs. By far this is the most versatile rod of all 12 baitcasters I own. They now make that rod in the new Max3D and the Inferno series. If you are interested go read the review of that rod on Tackletour. The rod  rates for 1/4 to 3/4 ounce lures. They threw all kinds of things on it all the way up to 2 ounce swimbaits and were amazed at its abilities.  I would never try that myself but it does what i wanted it to do. In a Max 3D that rod costs $160.

I am also a big fan of Irods and the Genesis II IRG 704 and 744 rods are great rods also. I do not own them, but do owna 703CC for cranks, traps and square bills.

I have a Dobyn's Extreme for my jigs, it's a heavy extra fast. I like the extra fast as it helps the hook penetrate past the skirt and trailer better than just a fast action.
