Does anyone throw them on a topwater/jerk rod? If so,how effective is the smaller rod for the presentation?

What is your set up for topwater/ jerk rod? It will depend on what kind of swimbaits you are throwing, and if you have a weighted hook.

6'7" MF. 3.8" soft paddle tail on 1/8 round head jig and 4.8" on 4/0 weighted swim hook.

big swimbaits on that rod won't work well use a heavier rod. but the other is good

Only talking soft plastics not big wooden swimbaits.

When I think soft plastic swimbait, I'm thinking a Hudd or line thru Savage Gear that weigh 2-4+ ounces ?

 

I like to throw those sized baits on a spinning rod with a braid/leader combo.

I have used my 7' MF for 3.8's and an open jig hook but IMO the 4.8's are probably a little much. I'm sure you could do it though, I just know if I threw a 4.8 on my MF it wouldn't feel right, yours might be different.

I can see where the confusion exists.My OP wasn't very clear.

I throw mine on a 7'2" MHF Tatula so that's what I would go with.

i was talking about the bigger 4.8" baits

I like a lot of power on single hook bait's so I use my dobyns 743 for the open jig head. Swim jigs and 4.8''s with weighted hooks on my st Croix legend mhf.

Same for me. I like MH rod for the 4.5 - 5" swimbaits (like hollow bodies) with a keel weighted single hook. But I always texpose the hook so it's weedless. I like the extra power for hook sets. 

 

I've thrown the smaller solid bodied swimbaits like the keitech easy shiner (think it's 4") with a 1/8 oz jig head with lighter wire hook using my spinning tackle. Think it's a 6'6" MF. No hookup issues at all.

Having this setup would be good for using soft plastic swimbaits. The only thing of my concern would be if you are throwing this around heavy cover, but using it in sparse cover or open water should do just fine.
