Richmond Virginia

Featured Replies

35 year old from Richmond, Virginia that's new to bass fishing. I fished as a kid with my dad, but wasn't until this summer that I got really into it. Im able to fish for at least a couple hours, several times a week, and have several decent bass ponds near me that I like to explore. Sometimes it's just walking on to a golf course at sunrise or sundown for an hour, other times it's going with my dad to a 50 acre private fishing club. My PB so far is 5.5 and I just caught a 4.2 last week. I am humble and slightly obsessed with bass fishing, so Im here to learn more and share any tips I have with you folks. I'd love to connect with some bassers in Virginia that would like to fish with me as well. Im also a die-hard Redskins fan, which means I'm used to disappointment haha. Cheers.

Thanks so much guys! Very excited to learn from all of you and share in the wonderful community that is: BASS FISHING! Hoping I can whack em' Friday. My goal this year is to:

-Catch 500 bass (need 489 as of today)

-Cath an 8+ pounder

-Log in a 20 pound day

I also need to learn how to:

-Use my new bait caster

-Fish with jigs for winter bass

-Learn how to pick apart ponds, and small lakes quickly (finding brush, structure, depths etc)

Lonnie, haha thanks man. I agree. I do kinda like Gruden but it's always disappointing being a skins fan. Good luck to you and your fishing outings in 2017. Hope you land some TOADS! Cheers.

Thanks Big Mike. He's 72 and we try and hang out and fish as much as possible. Time is short! Glad you enjoyed the pics from today. Half the lake was still under ice! It was crazy. Smashing ice with ores just to get the john boat off the dock and smashing more ice to get it on the thawed half of the lake. AWESOME day and totally worth it.

I have never fished with any ice.I keep seeing pics of icey water catches and that still amazes me.I reckon they have to eat at some point.

To me, a cold front really affects the Florida strain largemouth where I am.They really get slowww. But when it warms up,the activity really improves. Some of my biggest fish were caught in winter here though.

Yeah, enjoy your dad .Mines been gone For almost 9 years now.Taught me to fish, and about life and God.Best man I ever knew.

Big Mike,

That's proof right there that you had an amazing father. Calling your dad the "best man you ever knew" says a lot. Im sure he's smiling down from heaven every time you hook a fish too!

Welcome from another Richmond bass fishing newbie!
