New from France

Featured Replies

Hello everyone there.

My name is Teng, I'm from France on the west coast. Been a long time I came here to look after some devices. Today, I decide to sign in.

I was fishing from my early ages, from pole fishing, passing by carp fishing and now I fish most of my time the few bass that we have.

We don't have many bass, because lot of people don't release them and eat them, or they make bedfishing. So in many region, bass population regress, and some don't have.

Hopefully, there is association that do a lot for this fish, by purposing laws to protect bass.

About me, I fish mostly in some piece body water, like smalls canals, rivers, small lakes. We don't have gigantic dam as yours. So my experience is based on small waters.

Now, it's been, 4 years I'm in Bass Fishing. I have some difficult to catch some in winter, but summer is good.

I often fish in a small belly boat. I don't have (bass) boat, it's too expensive here even in second hand market. So it's not for now, hope one day.

My favorite, is frog fishing, and after jigs, texas rig in brush ... wacky, crancking ...

Hope to learn a lot more here with you guys.

Sorry in advance for my english ...

welcome sir . I believe fishing and sharing the stories is a great universal language

Bonjour Teng. I have never fished in France, but an going down to near Bordeaux in May. Do you know anything about the fishing in that area. Ideally for bass or zander (sandra)? Is it even legal to fish in May, or is there a closed season?

Hi Tim,

I don't really know about Bordeaux. I've fished a couple of times in the "big" (big for us in France) lakes, under Bordeaux, Cazeaux-Sanguinet. There is about 4/5 big lakes long side the coast. All are plenty Zander, Pikes, Perch & sometimes Bass  like Biscarosse/Parentis, where there were the 1st round of the B.A.S.S France Nation. This big lakes are kind special, because you don't have water from the bank to 100m further, then a big drop off, and this all on the west side of lake. On the east one, some of them have military ground, so fordidden.

Next to the drop off, you can find weeds, people are fishing this drop off/weeds specially for Perch (some are big about 3/4 lbs)

There was a time here, bass were in several kind of piece of water, but as I said, their population tend to regress.

But it's too bad you'll come in May, because it will be "big kermesse" on water ... fisherman everywhere due to the opening of lure fishing. Plus, at this period, Zander & Bass are spawning. Bass is closed to July, but not Zander, but not sportmanship to make bedfishing on Zander.

If you have any questions that I can answer, you can ask me here or in private message ;)

Concerning the contributing in the forum, I will do my best, I only have a 2 fully years experiences compares to you
