Let's talk punch skirts

Featured Replies

Hey guys, I was sondeting if anyone used punch skirts for flipping things other than heavy vegetation, like docks, laydowns, or bushes. I was looking on tackle warehouse at different kinds of punch skirts and it got me thinking. I love to flip laydowns and flooded bushes with soft plastics. I was wondering if adding a punch skirt would help me trigger bites or trigger bigger bites. Just wondering what you guys thoughts were on this. Thanks guys.

i do and i feel as though you can change color a lot cheaper and easier than a jig.  In the thickest of stuff i dont even use a punch skirt so maybe i am a little different.  I play with them the same as spider grubs until i get the combination i want.

I was just about to get them but didn't know which brand. I see eco pro tungsten, gambler quick change, and dirty jigs sells them. Can anyone comment on durability and preference. The "quick change" ones seem easy to use and change colors as long as they stay on right but the dirty jigs offer an insane amount of detailed colors. I've never used them but wish to this upcoming season.

i pretty much use them all time flipping. seems like i never get snagged. especially in the nasty stuff. only time i ever use a jig now is for a swim jig or a football jig.

I like them. Its cheaper to me to keep a few diffrent skirts and seperate weights i can use with any skirt color.

I get mine at siebert outdoors as well, and for punching or flipping definitly pay the extra lil bit to get wire tied.

Off topic... But WHERE did you find the Berkley Beasts? I have been looking everywhere for them... Especially the Breen color.

I'll generally include a punch skirt under two conditions:

> When I'm looking to increase lure bulk

> When I intend to deadstick the bait on bottom

I only buy 'Skinny Bear' rubber punch skirts

As a Huge fan of that bait - Prior to it being discontinued, I was very fortunate & managed to secure a rather sizably supply.

Is your supply sizable enough to part with a few bags?

No worries dude. Just thought I'd ask... No risk, no reward. Honestly, I dont blame you. If I had a good amount of a discontinued bait/lure i wouldn't sell them either.
