I use them the same as any suspending jerkbait, though they have a more aggressive darting action than many others like a Rogue, Mcstick, or LC Pointer. Work them on a medium action graphite rod with a fast action on a SLACK line. It's a lure I use mostly in the 50 to 55 degree water and colder. Throw it out, and reel it down to it's diving depth. Throw a little slack in the line (use fluoro or braid for maximum action), and give it a couple sharp twitches downward with the rod tip (don't overdo it), then pause. To me, I will start with 5 to 10 second pauses in 40 to 50 degree water, and 3 to 5 second pauses in 50 to 55 degree water. I'll vary the amount of twitches from one to perhaps four. Develop a cadence, and if you get bit, remember that cadence and the length of your pauses, and that will probably be what the bass want. One really good tip I learned from watching Ike was to change your cadence every 20 to 30 casts until you start getting bit.

WELL THAT GLASS GHOST X RAP SHOULD WORK FOR WALLEYE TOO SHOUDENT IT???

Oh heck yeah! Suspending jerks catch everything that swims. I catch a lot of nice crappie in the 12" to 16" range on them too. But walleye, trout, pike, all go crazy over hard jerkbaits. Even cats at times like them.

They work year round for me. Vary your retrieve... There is no one "do-all" retrieve.

I picked up an Xrap like 2 weeks ago and i had it tied on a rod and threw it around a lil bit every time I went out but didn't get any luck on it not even a swirl I don't know what I was doin wrong maybe they don't like the color lol idk it might be too warm tho high 70s? ;)

In my experience . Warm water jerkbaits need to be fished rather quickly. Try a snap, snap, snap straight down all the way back to you.

Hard of hearing is my guess.

X raps are my favorite jerkbait. I use them year round in ohio. Sometimes i twitch it very aggressively without pausing. Other times i will twitch a few times and and pause it for a few seconds. Its a great bait. I like it alot better than the shadow raps

I love xrap and flat rap in CT and MA until may when the weeds come. Three Lil jerk and a pause. Jerks can be smaller than you think and pause can be longer than you would think. I've also caught bass and perch on just a steady slow retrieve. 08 size... perch, hot steal, orange any color really. Great lure for spring, you can really rip it or work it super slow. Play around with it and get a feel.

WHAT???

Depends on the water temperature. Right after ice-out, I'll be twitching and letting it rest for as much as I can stand! Which is usually less than 30 seconds. As the water warms, I increase the tempo slowly. By the first of summer, I'm starting a more regular cadence. But again, this is predicated upon the the mood of the fish.....not the fisherman!

Guess I'll be "that guy" best way to use a x rap is throw them in the trash and buy a megabass vision 110

 "that guy" is off-topic

Cast out and twitch it back in.  Fast, slow, doesn't matter.  It will get pounded.  Best for fishing in 10 feet of water or less.  Have caught some good ones on a straight retrieve though.

I dont fish jerk baits much but the X-rap saved my day once . The bass were just slashing at crankbaits  , . I face hooked a few . Tried an X_Rap and the fish were all over it .

I have had 50+ fish days on X-raps.  Are you suggesting I would have caught more fish if I had used the megabass vision 110 on those days?

If so, how can you make that claim not knowing anything about the circumstances of that fishing day?

I'm just stating my opinion based on what has happened in my boat over the years.  The x rap always gets out fished by a 110 even on days they seem to be eating anything
