I added this in the wrong subforum earlier. Just saw a video and this frog seems awesome. It's like a Whopper Plopper but weedless which is nice. Obviously you can't walk the dog like a traditional hollow body frog, but it seems cool still. I love my Whopper Ploppers so far, but obviously they aren't weedless, this could fill that niche where you need a weedless lure. I am trying to not spend a lot of money on lures this year and the Whopper Plopper was supposed to be my one new lure this year, but this frog seems really intriguing. Must be pretty new, not a lot of people are carrying them but Tackle Warehouse has them. $13 which is expensive for a hollow body, but if it catches a lot of fish and is durable as a hollow body frog can be it could be worth it.

If you watch much of Bama Bass's Youtube channel you'll see a lot of that. He does a great job of editing videos and I think possibly even owns a trophy fishery. Either way, he has access to some very large bass. There are some videos of some other YT fishing video personalities going fishing with him to get a new PB.

 

He has his own website with lures for sale. He specializes in frogs, swimbaits, topwaters and very large bass.

There were a few on flea bay for close to $50 American yesterday.

I'd like to take a couple to Mexico - just to see what happens . . . . 

But I think I'll wait for the 3rd or 4th run when the $$ comes back to earth a bit.

Out of curiosity, does this toad completely float like a HB? Cast as well as a HB? Does it walk easily if you don't want to do a straight retrieve?

I would assume the Teckel Sprinker frog does walk though. Even with that leg coming out of its behind.

Snag Proof made a similar bait years ago.  Hollow frog with a boot tail.  I have one somewhere.  Never used it.

Wasn't weedless like this one though.  Hook hung off the back and was exposed.

Here is my take...It does the Whopper Plopper noise...that's good, it's weedless...thats good.  The only thing I think that will frustrate me is the frog hooks and the hook up ratio.  I imagine it will be lower.  Seems like bass just look at the whopper plopper and get all "hooked" up and can't get off...my experience anyway.  I will have to teach myself to be a little patient with the hook set on this but the fact that its weedless and can run over grass and weeds is cool.  I am not bothered by price really...and who's kidding who...if the whopper plopper cost was $50 and I knew it worked as well as it did...I still would buy three of them.

The top toad does float but the weighted hook Stanley makes for them sinks them. I cut the weight off the shank and it works great. The hooks are great as well with the weight taken off. 

 

 

Anyone know why they chose the name sprinker? At first I was sure it was a typo because sprinkler would make so much more sense...

Hookup ratio may suffer a bit, but being able to run them in places a plopper can't go is a trade off I'm willing to make. The grass is hitting the surface at one of my favorite smallie lakes, and I should have mine in time to give them a test run when my dad and I go there in a couple weeks. Hopefully have a good report on them by then. 

I actually made one myself about two years ago. I took a booya frog and added a swivel with a 30lbs line as a trailer with a Big Bite Cane Thumper backing.. it works great and weedless.. used it a few times, but haven't used it in a good while.. perhaps I will film one being used to show you guys how to make em yourself.. they worked good when I used it last but never gave it any thought.. just one of many experimental baits..

Honestly, I never used mine.  It came in a care package from them, along with a bunch of other unusual designs I never tried, like the lizard/frog thing.  I would guess it would make some splashing, if worked fast enough.

I've got a few Sprinker frogs and have used them a few times.  Hooks are angled just about perfectly up and out.  I haven't had to bend them.  Hook up ratio is no different than any tuned frog.  You can sort of walk them if you pop them. Not worth the gouging prices on ebay, but at $14 retail,  I think they are awesome.
