Braided line

Featured Replies

I'm new to bass fishing could some one tell me witch braided line is better seaguar smackdown or the seaguar flippen

I haven't used Seaguar's flipping braid but I've used Smackdown. Smackdown is pretty good but in my experience with it is awful at holding a leader knot (yes I know how to tie a proper connection knot) because it is super slick. Personally, I'd go with Sufix 832 it's cheaper and is arguably one of the best braids on the market.

I like daiwa I braid x4. Cheap and reliable.

I really like smackdowwn, 832 and Gamma Torque.

832 sinks the best.

Gamma is the thinnest in most lbs and is 4 strand.

Smackdowwn is less likely to dig in, but I have never had that problem with any of them

If I could only choose 1 it would be 832

I have only used power pro, suffix 832, and spider wire. I would say out of these 3 power pro is my favorite and spider wire is my least favorite. I usually get my power pro from wal mart so its convenient for me.

It's not going to help much...but it's mostly going to come down to personal preference.

I've used and like Smackdown, have not used the Flippin' yet.

Like others above, I like Suffix 832 and PowerPro.

Not a fan of Gliss, or Spider Wire, though there are plenty of folks who use and like both.

You will need to try several to see what feels best to you as we all cast and control differently.

I and fond of Power Pro and 832. Depends on the weight.

Thanks everyone for the info and tips but what do you guys think of burckly fire line

Get Power Pro and be done with it

For me, I only use Power pro and 832, and 832 is my first choice.   I have tried others like the fire line and spider wire, but they seem more brittle and prone to break offs.  the 832 is 8 strand with a hydrophobic Gore fiber core  and a break in the line doesn't translate to failure somewhere else on the line like a 4 strand braid does.

Other aspects to consider are:  4 strand is better at cutting through vegetation but isn't as quiet casting or as smooth as 8 strand.

Hope this helps

Quick question how does it handle foreal leaders

NEVER had an issue and I use the FG, Uni to Uni, and crazy Alberto.

I do find rubbing the coting off the ends make it a little less slippery.

I use fireline crystal for whacky and line watching (I am color blind and the green/brown lines blend with the water and I can't see them) as for the natural colors I've used both fireline and 632.

I also know my knots and have never had a problem with my leaders. I use the uni-uni for like diameters and the improved albright for disparate diameters.....

I do this for all (saltwater seamonster fishing too...) my braid applications.
