Do you guys like the palomar knot or the trilene knot better? 

Use the knot that you can tie 100% every time. It doesn't matter which one is stronger if it's not tied right. I prefer the Palomar since I use it often. 

 

braid - palomar 

mono - uni

leader - albright 

I use the uni snell for straight shank flippin hooks. 

Palomar. If I could I would tie my shoes using that knot.

Trilene on Braid and smaller Mono

San Diego Jam on Fluoro and bigger Mono

Alberto for leaders

 

I agree 100% with tie what you can consistently tie.

Not exactly - 

There are two differences.

This one uses a double line and there are only 'three' turns around the standing part.

I looked for a diagram of it but was unsuccessful - #bummin

I'm down to just five knots:

-Palomar for braid to lure

-loop knot for some surface applications

-SD Jam for all other line to lure

-Alberto for line to leader

-Arbor for line to spool

So double your line and tie a uni-knot with 3 wraps? I will have to try it. I use monofilament almost 100% of the time and I like the uni-knot because I can tie a good one at night in driving rain. I get pretty good results with 14 pound test and higher but when I drop to lower pound test sometimes I can pop a knot with too much shock on the hookset.

I've only used it so far on 12 lb and up - It's real easy to tie & easy to finish as all 3 tag ends come out at the top of the knot so one clip and you're done.

Does seem to 'waste' a little line but it's better (for me) than trying to pass a treble hook bait through a palomar knot. 

Always seems to hang up.

I think this is Aaron Martens tying that knot. As usual he uses twice as many wraps as a normal human would!

Yes Sir - that's it.

I would use extra turns in lighter nylon and braid as well.

I have yet to find a double line knot that ties easily, and really don't think I need to.  Trilene is easy, very strong, for lures, snaps, hooks, terminal stuff.  Double uni for leaders to line where the size of knot isn't an issue, FG where it is.  All three of these is pretty efficient for not using up a lot of line, and they don't care how many hooks there are on a lure, still easy.
