Spinnerbait/chatterbait setup line?

Featured Replies

Ordering a Zillion SV TW (5.5:1) from Digitaka and while I'm at it can add some JDM line to my order.

It will be mounted on a St Croix Rage 6'9" MH/Fast.  Its a pretty stout stick so I'm thinking maybe something with a little stretch?!?!

Thoughts?

I always throw Flourocarbon, Vicious Elite Pro Flourocarbon to be exact on this setup. With Flouro sinking I can get my baits lower in the water column easier and it will provide the stretch you are looking for.

You will find most use FC , copoly or mono  lines with a bit of stretch  for spinner / chatter baits as having a slight bit of delay helps with hooksets for these baits .

I'm trying out Sunline Super Natural in 16lb. I like it so far. Using on an Irod Stone Cold Swim and Vibrating Jig rod. Just waiting on my Tatula SV to show up to complete the combo.

Currently using 15lb copolymer and it works well. P-Line Fluoroclear to be exact. I use it on my spinnerbait and jig outfits.

I have been using sunline shooter defier armillo in 15 lb. and liking it a lot.

Very nice product.

Yup....I am in the minority.  I tie directly to braid and it runs as deep as it did on tatsu

Just one vote for Braid. The other 3 are pretty much tied.  I put Seaguar Rippin on a CB rod last week and I really like it.

I also like the shooter defier A...  Its just a bit tough to find in my area.

Seaguar InvizX 12lbs fluorocarbon - to me it fishes with a stretch similar to the mono I used to throw.

I also throw my spinner/chatter baits on a glass rod....I find it helps with hook ups when paired with this fluorocarbon.

I fish almost everything on copolymer. I do have a braid rod for top waters/frogs. My spinning rods set up with braid and copolymer leaders.

Spinner/Chatter bait have been my #1 confidence lure this season. I started out with 12# Yo-zuri hybrid, slowly started settling on 20# Yozuri topknot fluoro. I've had great success with both. Decided to step up to 20# 100% fluoro when I was ripping snakeheads out of the vegetation around my way...handled with no problem. Both setups are fished from a dobyns fury 703c.

I am a devout spinnerbait chucker. I use to use Berkley XL 14# mono, now it is 14-16 lb flouro. FC Sniper and Tatsu being my current fav's.

Yo Zuri Hybrid at 12 lbs line for 3/8oz  to 1/2 oz chatterbait.

Yo Zuri Hybrid at 10 lbs line for 1/4oz chatterbait.

Yep, same here.

Currently using 15# Trilene 100% and I have also used 15# Seaguar InvisX..... Both have been flawless and they give you some stretch.

My current chatter bait setup is a Skeet Reese spinner bait rod. This rod has a moderate fast taper. I run 40 lb braid because this rod is already pretty noodley at the tip.
