Seems lately all I can do is catch fish flipping and pitching, so I decided to pick up a dobyns savvy 766flip off of their website for 100. It's a rep sample. My question is what are everyone's thoughts on this rod for everyone who has tried it. Going to be using it for 5/16 and 3/8 and up pitching and flipping soft plastics

The 766 is a beast. If you want a rod to boat flip an eight with, you got it. Very balanced. Just be ready for power, power and more power. You can punch up to 1.5 oz. no problem if that's your thing too. Enjoy.

How's the tip and sensitivity on this thing. I know the balance is great cause it's a dobyns. I plan on using mostly fluoro

The only dobyns I've ever owned is a fury 765 so I'm trying to see what I can expect from this being it's my first micro guide rod

The Savvy line has had a great following for years. They were only dropped because the Sierra line came out and Gary started making the Sierras in both standard and micro series.  He has said micros are not his favorite guides, but as long as his customers want a rod built that way he will keep building them.  

 

The fact he started making a Sierra rods with micro guides proves he is still selling them.

 

That should be an awesome rod.

You got it at the price point it should have been at when it was introduced. 

Sensitivity is what you expect from a 100$ rod. 

The 766 is easily the most powerful rod dobyns makes. I used to have one before the DX795 and all I used it for was punching. It's every bit of a broom stick as they come. For the weight you listed, you would have been better off /w the 735 or Fury 765. The 765 would handle the 5/16-1oz weights + plastics really well. If you wanted a rod to throw a 1/2oz-2oz weight + plastic into a jungle and yank them out, you found it. 

Guess I'll find out. I pitch from 3/8 to 1/2 oz usually
