What pound test for flipping

Featured Replies

I am getting a 7'5 heavy setup for flipping and am wondering what pound braided test to get for it.

65Lb daiwa j-braid x4

50 is the standard, but 65 or even 80 is needed for heavy grass at times. I used 30 a lot this year for fishing sparse grass and wood.

I like the way 65# feels, but 50# will be fine too.

I have two setups with 50lb and two with 65lb. Never needed anything more then 65lb but would never go under 50lb either.

Flipping it's all about handling the line and too small dia super braid will cut your fingers, it's not all about strength.

I would say flipping with line under .015 dia/ 60 lb test is marginal.
