Best week in spring?

Featured Replies

I think I’m going to take a week in the spring to fish Alabama or Florida. If you were picking a week in advance, when would you schedule your time off? I know you can’t predict the weather, but when is the bass fishing usually taking off?

Either side of May 1 in the Mid South. Probably late January through the middle of February further south.

I'd go late January through late March for those two states.

Lake Guntersville February 26th. Thru March 3rd, 2018...

My choice would be February 26th 2018 thru March 3rd 2018... This time period is the "First" or "Second" Major Largemouth Bass Spawning Period. It maybe the "First" because it has been a "Mild Winter"... The "Grass" will be about 12" to 18" off the bottom and starting to turn "Green".. Both "Browns Creek" and "Siebold Creek" will produce Largemouth Bass all the time. Just flip flop between these two areas... They have every thing for what ever type of fishing that you would like to do... Fish the 6 feet to 10 feet range in and around the "Vegetation"...

Thanks for all the replies. I’ve reserved a campsite on Lake Seminole for the first week of March. This will be my first Florida fishing trip.

Good luck there's some big'uns swimming around Seminole. Especially during the spawn, I hope to be out there too

Hope you do well.

Seminole is a little out of my range. Haven't fished it but heard some good things about it.

Hopefully it won't be too cold that week to hinder them from bedding , or feeding. If you can just get 3 good days in a row of warmer weather that week they should get fired up.

I’m hitting Shearon Harris in NC at the end of February myself. Sure hope we get a few warm days in a row and the big girls come up to start fattening up for the spawn! Good luck on your fishing trips everyone!
