Googan here and I want to know if 50lb braid is "too strong" for only a 10lb mono leader

The beauty of braid to leader is you can use what ever size you like.  The knot may work better with simular sized lines and with my favorite the alberto smaller braid holds flouro better for me.  The 10 lb will break somewhere before the braid but that can be an advantage depending on what your trying to accomplish.  I use 30 braid for 6-15lb leaders regularly.

I run 30# braid to 8# co-poly all season. 

Yeah, you can join them just fine. Not sure why one would want to, but hey to each his own. When joining braid and mono of similar diameters as in your case, I like the uni/uni over the mod albright.
