Has anyone ever fished the 4 ponds/lakes over at Twin Hickory on the Westend close to Innsbrook?

Despite that my daughter goes to after school care at the YMCA at Nuckols and Twin Hickory, I had to look on a map to see where those four ponds are.  Have you given them a go?

When the subdivision first opened I fished one of the ponds.

Caught a few dinks.

Never returned but you go and fish them and let us know what you catch.

Good luck.

I fished Lake Rooty yesterday for a little while and caught one small one.  That lake has gone through some stuff for sure.  When i was working in innsbrook 5 years ago I could count on catching between 2-3 during my lunch break just about every day.  There are still lots of sunnies in there but bass wise not so much.  I have see na few large carp i nether too which i may have to target on the fly rod one of these days....

Ok Bill, let's keep the discussion going.

Salisbury Country Club has a series of three or four ponds we used to fish and pull out 3 ,4 and 5 pounders. Even wdycrankbait would clobber them at Salisbury. :D

We used to fish the ponds on Monday when the course was closed. Never had any problems. The golfers playing the course were not supposed to be there and if we were not supposed to be there so we had a Mexican stalemate. We let them play and they let us fish.

Now, there is a new golf pro who has stocked the ponds with trout and has put them off limits to fishing for those of us who are not members.

I have not fished the ponds in a few years and always enjoyed fishing them and meeting others who joined us. Caught a lot of beautiful bass in those ponds.

So if you want to take a chance this is what you do:

1.  Go to the club on a Monday when the course is closed.

2.  Turn off Salisbury Drive onto Kings Lynn Road.

3.  Make the 90* turn on Kings Lynn Road and park.

4.  Walk via the easement to the golf course.

5.  The best pond will be to your right. It has a small golf cart bridge at one end.

6.  Fish until they chase you off.

7.  Hit the other ponds as you wish.

By the Presbyterian church on Salisbury Drive you will find a nice pond that belongs to the Salisbury Country Club. Park in the lot by the tennis courts or in the church's parking lot and walk to the pond.  Some nice bass are in that pond.

Lake Salisbury is on the other side of Salisbury Drive from the golf club but you have to be a member of the association to fish it. If you do fish it there is a walkway next to a house to your left on Oakengate Road. Check it out on a map. Park and go down the steps to the dam area.

You will see the long dam were you can walk and fish. Be ready to be run off if someone decides to report you.

As for the pond at the Stonehenge Country Club off Midlo across from Wal-Mart, I never fished it but understand that if you ask the golf pro he may let you. Then again, I have never seen or heard of anyone fishing that pond.

One last place to try your luck.  Off Providence Road heading south away from Midlothian Turnpike you will see Providence Methodist Church on your left. There is a pond on the other side of their parking lot. Just park and walk to the pond and give some topwaters a shot.

And don't forget to go to Dick's and get the 2018 Freshwater Fishing in Virginia booklet. It has a listing of the places to fish all over Virginia.

Please PM with your results or court dates. :D

Thanks and good luck.

Thanks for the help Sam! I'll be sure to check these spots out and let you know how I do.

Was able to hit this little pond after I left the office.

Had 2 bites but was only able to land this football chunk; was 3.85 lbs.

Anybody trying to put me onto a couple nice ponds with quality fish, please don't hesitate to message me.

Pretty sure I know where you got that one based on the background.  The fence they put around the pond has helped with the geese.  I may have caught that same fish a few weeks ago in the corner.  I was catching crappie there last weekend way out near the middle using a 2.8 keitech on a guppy head.  Also got a few by the drain near the tree.

Been going down chesdin alot lately , turning into my favorite spot

How's the water clarity recently?  Last year with all the rain we got every time i fished Chesdin it was like chocolate milk.  I launched near the dam at the public ramp.  With a kayak i'm a bit limited in where i can go there.  The other place i've put in is way up by Chesdin Landing.  Didn't have much luck there, but might give it a try again.

@James Janousek Never knew there was crappie in there, probably because I only go for the bass.

Dude on social media caught like a 20 pound channel cat out of there on Tuesday. Maybe we can link up sometime and beat the bank.

After running some errands after work on Friday, I decided to stop by my neighborhood pond.

Got a solid 2 pounder in the first 15 minute with black Zoom finesse trick work. Then at dusk on the opposite corner of the pond....this Big Girl just smoked the Munky Butt Whopper Plopper 110!!!

She might have slung mudd in my face, but this 5 Pound Slouch was well worth it!

1st Topwater bass of 2019 :champagne-088:

We hit Swift Creek Reservoir for a couple of hours Saturday morning and a couple more Sunday evening and landed four bass between 2 and 3 pounds.  The bowfin was caught on my first cast from the dock while waiting for the lollygaggers to come down to the boat.

All were caught with Yum Dingers in red shad.

Weightless with 4/0 Hooks. She was using a medium-light spinning rod. I was using a medium.  I think we both had 20 lb braid. Flouro would probably be better with the worms but neither of us has had much luck with that. I put some sinking braid on one of my rods earlier today and am looking forward to trying that out.

This pesky rain is keeping me off the water.  I have not been out since I got back from Lake St Clair in Michigan.
